I know that's the most common way of using them, but Trello is flexible enough that you can use it for anything. I realize my arrangement is a little non-traditional, but this is a public-facing feature board tracker, and given the scope and pace of development, explicitly defined points in the pipeline beyond "working on it" and "it's done" aren't needed. Alright, I'll try to make this a habit. Join me fellow dads! Instead of playing Clash of Clans while you poop, or reading hentai on the sub critique a fellow artist. It trains your eye and it might help another daddo.

First and foremost sharpen your pencils. You have a lot of technical problems you need to address. Stay away from colour for a while and focus on construction. Your ethics and determination are commendable, you simply have to channel them in the right path. Look up how to take measurements from objects when doing still life and go slow. If you can't find anything, hit me up, I can do a small video demonstration for you. When you do a study the goal is to understand what you are studying not rush through and call it done. Take things slow and don't overwhelm yourself. Start with learning how values work and basic construction. Be patient and allow yourself to spend some time on each drawing. Shade with gentle movements so you can get a range of values, instead of just trying to get down an outline. Ganbatte, Charl!

You're spot on when it comes to your studies, I wish I could do that too, but your recent one looks a bit flat. I think this may have been partially deliberate but it would look even better if you worked your magic on it. Remember, you usually wanna avoid your darkest darks in the far background, as it tricks the eye thinking the object is closer, flattening the image. Same with the bright yellow window. I want to focus on the gentleman in the car but can't, because there's this far bright corner demanding my attention, which serves no narrative purpose. Try to think about what you want your viewer to pay attention to in a composition. Colour is importand, as is light, repetition, shape etc.

You don't want to do that. This is a classic trap for all artists. The truth is DAD is a place for your fellow students and is the place where you can fail and fail a lot before leaving into the social media realm where all the non-artists will be seeing your work and asking for your services.

You shouldn't care as much about feeling the need to reprove yourself that you can draw better than what you've been failing at to other dads because "oh, these guys would think I can't actually draw so I need to show them". Dad users ultimately are not who you're aiming for, but the outside world. So mess up as much as you'd like so that you learn...it isn't a gallery after all.
