yeah that's what I'm looking at for the hurricane(which basically isn't even hitting here anymore). I was going to do the Putin painting on Friday but I felt the impulse to get it goghing today.

I have 2 spaces available (297 and 291) that could be for a chest eaters version. I think I want to do "you're gonna die" from https://youtu.be/QNMiH_LaJu8 for the other spot

And technically Van Gogh didn't do the big Potato Eaters until 1885. And he died in 1890. So it was like ~5 years in.

And if we were starting my race at the same age I'm like 2 years ahead of him. Honestly it's bananas how much he did in the last couple of years. He was painting peasants for like 5 years. Then he moved to cool places and still was only like the last 2 years of his life that he did all the dope shit.

So yeah I'm out of 16x12s but I can do a chest eaters on an 11x14 (which is kind of close to the first potato eaters) or just go ahead and do it on a 20x24, and then make an even goddamn bigger one next year.

my justification for making putin be 300 is that the underlying driving force behing basically everything since January 2017 has been that I was telling myself it was all part of "how to paint trump." That was the larger focus and underlying motivation the more more significant "big bad" of this act.

Like the underlying motivation behind Van Gogh's decision to walk away from his normie life, move to the country, and make unsolicited paintings of peasants at work, was that he was in his own way rebelling against industrialization and everything else that was going on in the late 19th century.

His art was a passive rebellion and reflection of the changing political and industrial climate that was fundamentally altering the foundation of human existence.

And like Trumpism and this era isn't necessarily the start of the internet and corporatist revolution but it will likely be seen as the face of it.

Plus if I know anything about art history is that there needs to be nonsense lore behind the numbering and recollection of the actual timeline of when the pieces where actually produced. If number 291 is technically the last produced, it just creates an argument maybe.

Not to mention that >>3601103 is essentially the most important piece in the series and it's not even numbered and essentially no longer exists. It's just a picture. The foundation of everything that happened was a desperately forgotten joke.

It's just rules and subversion and self-sabotage and stuff.

I hated you at first, and I still find your inundation of this board obnoxious, but I admire the fact that you're actually painting all the time unlike most anons here, so here are a few tips:

For muddy colors/values, your biggest problem is your application of fundamental principles of color theory and light.
Basic drawing:
-Measure (You are here)
-Define planes through delineating light and shadow
-"Block in" the correct value for each plane
-Render planes
Basic color theory:
-Lights will generally be warm and shadows will be cool, but artificial lights can produce the opposite
-The hue of the shadow color generally tends to be the complementary of the light's hue
-However, if there are two differently colored light sources, the cast shadow from the first light then becomes the hue of the second light and vice versa
-Mid-tones, especially in flesh, tend to skew more saturated
-Almost ALL of your shadows are too neutral. You need more saturation there. Try adding cadmiums or ultramarine depending on the value and temperature
General tips:
-Painting on a blank white canvas looks like shit unless you cover every square inch with thick paint (your Picassos look alright). Burnt or raw sienna works well for a wash, but any color can work depending on palette
-Drop the black outlines. They also look like absolute shit. Render out the form of whatever it is you're outlining. I've seen this in a few of your paintings and they look much better (>>3601342 (still needs more saturated shadows))

And I don't mix more than 2 or 3 colors at a time normally (excluding all the "whites" I mix in like gesso and retarder and gloss and white. It's just a process of having the main schlop pile and pulling a new color in when it gets low.

I enjoyed drawing from the ages of 4-18, and then started to hate it and got crippled about art from 18-28 because I just developed some weird aversion to drawing and fear of not making anything good enough and self-justification shit for doing nothing.

Getting into painting was a way to kickstart back into creative production while leapfrogging over the barrier to entry that had been holding me back. It worked for my porpoises at the time even if it has become considerably less satisfying or personally valuable to me since.

I'd recommend EVERYONE tries doing a canvas transfer portrait just for the practice of it. Sometimes time is a more important concern for what you're doing than how hard it was. Like when I worked on a movie about art shows, artists were tasked with having to have new paintings produced daily to be used as the protagonist's art on camera. Nobody gives a shit about how you got there in that context. Just needs to look like a fucking painting so the main character can throw it at his brother or whatever.
