No wait, wait, let me take another stab at this shit. ConceptArt.org bans your dumb fuck ass and you spill over here, thinking that your majestic painting techniques are going to make you the next prodigy here, right? No precious, your ass is here because you have nowhere else to go, your failures on canvas on display for everyone to see, your shit expressionism the only saving grace while that revolver sits quietly in wait in that dresser door; one bullet in the chamber and it all goes away, Cameron.

Keep posting the same garbage again to make you feel better, now that mommy and daddy have hung their heads in shame to the pathetic lifestyle you've become, asking your friends and family to buy your paintings because you can even sell that shit at a discount at the art shows you go to. How many failures have to paid overpriced tables to, Cameron? Six during the summer, with little to show for it?

I know your kind, faggot. I pass by your table at art shows and watch you hunched over by the table, your fucking soul crushed because no one buys your shit.

Your dumb ass has been drawing since you were 15 and you're what, 24 now? Nine fucking years wasted. :)

There's the trust seeping in, Cameron. There's the truth about your life starting to sink in, that depressing feeling that you have to wake up and do it ALL over again tomorrow, that sorry existence only compounded by more paintings that like you, have lost all their appreciation.

Hell, I'd let you kick my ass so that you could at least say you accomplished something, instead of waking up again tomorrow with nothing in your hands but a broken dream. It's alright to cry Cameron, I know the truth hurts.

What's on the docket this week? More of the same from last week? Maybe even more from a month ago, now that you're banned from art shows, too? Where else do you have to go?

It's okay, when grandma was on the death bed you made a promise to be the best painter you could be. She's been gone now what, six years to the day?

She must be real proud of you. :)

So yeah faggot, I'd let you kick my ass, just because I feel sorry for you, a disappointment to your family, your friends no longer around you, your dreams shattered like pieces of glass on the floor.

You are of no value. Your paintings are of no value. So go ahead and kick my ass, Cameron.

Because life is doing a fantastic job of kicking your ass for me, and there's no escaping your life unless that luck clicks on that lucky chamber, doesn't it Cameron?

ConceptArt is still half a year away. What to do, what to do, desperation please, tell me what to do.

There you go Cameron, pretend to be black again so that you can feel something again, adopt that alter ego so that you feel invincible again, so that Cameron Avery doesn't have to suffer, tucked away safely in the recess of your mind ruined by the reality of your world.

Keep compounding the lies. Present that persona to the world again as your safety mechanism, because deep down inside you're fucking broken, inching closer to the edge, never a second thought about how your life has become this, diarrhea you can barely keep your head afloat of.

Keep pretending, Cameron. We'll pretend with you so that you don't feel alone. Come on, say nigga again like you really black, blood. We back in the hood, you aight, you aight.

Your pose is stiff, you have no idea how your forms work, how light works, how to do fabric or hair and worst of all you have no sense of appeal which is the main focus when stylizing anything. I feel like I've made progress. I mean, I can see places where my shadows made less sense, where I was drawing something that wasn't there, and which I corrected for now. Had to add a little more i looked through it again and as i was looking through at the rendering i feel what would help is to make your hatching not too messy it looks great from far away but when you look in some areas like on the suit and hair you see how messy it is like i feel the hair couldve had more form like the darker values in the image and had more control that would show the strands of hair but i know that doing all that detail would take alot of energy and time but i just wanted to add this so it might help you in some way but yeah just focus on the forms and shapes and keep doing your best your doing great buddy!

You made some great gains in rendering, line quality and flow/gesture.
My advice would be to work on volumes. Some of your details feel like they're painted flat onto your basic forms. For example, all the details in the chest area of her outfit don't conform to the perspective of the shapes you'd expect there, but rather look like a drawn-on 2d template. The hair at the top and the masses that form the bangs have the same issue as well, which is reinforced by the shading/highlights simply describing the overall volume of the sphere of the cranium.

I've noticed this issue is common with people who get good at drawing mainly from imagination without doing many studies, as it's easy to internalize shortcuts to stylize certain forms instead of actually thinking about the way they're created. I dunno if you'd find it any help, but I think focused studies on forms and volumes could help. Pay attention to cross-contour lines, plane changes, and form-based rendering clearly depicting your planes.

Also, if you have a blog, I'd love to follow it.

Thanks, I have been drawing since I was a kid but only got decent around 3 years ago during first year uni (pic related). >> No.3606295

I have no idea what that means, but there are certain lessons I have gathered about drawing over the past years.

Be consistent; with few exceptions, I have maintained around 1 hour or more of drawing time every day. Gains made from 4 or 5 hours of grinding over the course of a day easily evaporate if they are not consistently followed up with practice.

Be active; doing cardio/ staying in shape/ doing sports can be of great help to drawing because it keeps your brain active and healthy as well as instilling a sense of discipline often lacking in creative types.

Know the physical limits of your body; this is a bit more of a personal preference but I try to not beat myself up to draw when I'm really too tired to or when I'm feeling fatigued from too much drawing. Much like overtraining in sports I believe drawing / creative fatigue is a real thing and sometimes you have to condition your body instead of overcommitting yourself. Achieving the fine balance between discipline and relaxation is not easily described and is something that I am basically unable to do myself.

Drawing is easier when you draw the things you want to draw, a fact you can use to your advantage to log consistent drawing hours, but everyone should best try to step outside their comfort zone to get a better view if why it is that you do what you do artistically.

Lastly I would recommend maintaining a balance between drawing from imagination and reference, in order to grow your visual library and your skill in drawing from imagination, as well as a balance between studies and finished work.

That's some handy advice, cheers. I'm trying to improve a lot in my life right now, so I'm gonna wake up early before work and draw, to make sure I have no excuses for the rest of the day. In the next couple of months I'll get going to a gym and also do that in the morning. As for the rest, I hate drawing the things I want to draw because it leaves me frustrated with the fact that they look horrible, so I'm really just studying until I can draw an appealing human body in perspective. Maybe not the right way but I find it hard to enjoy drawing something I want to draw when really, I can't draw it.

Very stiff, you need to practice gesture drawing and learn the concept of dynamic posing, as well as what makes a pose dynamic. Understanding and putting it to practice will help you greatly.
After you can lay down dynamic poses off your head, the next big thing would be figure drawing from life etc. After that it's up to you. Good luck

You know what's hell?

I had an assignment where I had to use a mirror as a ref for an exact 1:1 scale drawing of myself, but was not allowed to use it while drawing.

So that meant running into the bathroom to look at the mirror then leaving and sketching what I could remember. Just going back and forth forever. THAT was hell.

And to top if off I have aphantasia (no visualization). So I was frantically measuring proportions and then repeating them to myself over and over on the way back to my drawing. Every time I forgot what I was doing it was time to go back to the mirror and measure again.

What a clusterfuck.

You are probably not in this thread anymore but I really need to tell you that is not how a fishing line works. At the end is a hook. Tied into the line above it, one or more little metal weights (sinkers) to help the hook stay down in the water and not float around. The white and red ball is called a bobber, because it bobs on the SURFACE of the water without sinking. It is not near the hook, there is line between them.

The bobber is how the fisherman knows a fish has grabbed the hook, because as the fish tries to swim away with the baited hook, it will pull the bobber under the surface, and the fisherman will know to yank on the line. Otherwise, the bobber never goes under the surface.

Please look at a picture when you're drawing something if you don't know how it works.
