thanks man. I do try to draw a lot of faces and I definitely didn't put enough effort into this one, most of the time I spent was in the clothes. Looking at the face in a mirror, a lot of the errors are obvious. the eyes aren't aligned and the jawline isn't symmetrical etc..
Do you have any other specific critiques for the face?

mainly choose if you going a more anime route or more realistic. It's like you are combining both but in an unflattering way. like realisitic positioning and size but anime styling. so it looks odd.

I'd make her eyes wider and make the pupil more round and if you gonna shave it always in a straight line not going up like yours did.

also korean style like thick eyebrows it looks nice so make sure to go a bit thicker. it doesnt have to be as thick as i did tho. also a bit wider mouth i think and less O shape.

But yeah keep it up I also like drawing twice but since im not that good i dont post it as often as i should.

Obviously commissions. It can't be too hard to get some exposure once you get good and live off 20 dollars per drawing. For starters you'd just create a twitter and instagram and maybe tumblr account and start shilling it everywhere on /ic/ and OH yes a facebook page too.

If your drawings are really good, and I mean "Professional manga cover" good, people will surely want to watch your work and some will fall to curiosity and pay you for it.
Of course I know shit about this and you probably have examples of good people not making it, but I know a girl who does 5 dollar comissions pretty regularly just because she got into a big (50k+ people) meme group and thirsty dudes and artsy gays started following her.
From that I deduce it's a matter of making it into a group with something that catches the eye once you get good.

I'd exaggerate the head shape and its proportions a bit more, especially the hair. lose a few lines on the eyes and also make them a bit more squinty and lengthen if you are going for that mature look, thinner lines on the jaw and chin while adding more curve. experiment and see if it works out, good work though keep it up

The shadows on that are really inconsistent and incoherently placed. Simplify, it's hard to tell what you want the viewer to focus on. Hands could be better, looks like you really struggled with the skirt down as the legs seem quite rushed. The face shadows don't coincide with planes of the face so you have some unnatural shadow lines. One of my least favorite shadow parts is how you have it go from the nose to her left eye, it doesn't correspond well enough for me to the lighting and how her hair would make shadows on the face.

Face drawing is heavily a matter of stylization. Not saying that the body figure isn't, but it's just much less so. It's hard to grind both fundies and style at the same time, anon. So just as the other anon said, grind fundies like mad. To make this process fun, I'm not gonna tell you to read Loomis or some other shit like that, you just have to follow your favorite artists and copy/reference their works. Getting used to anime poses will help you a shittone in manga because what makes anime truly anime is the cute pose. Once you can reliably and easily copy/reference bodies and poses, get deeper into styles that you like and again, try to copy it. Westerinos will disagree with me but this is the true way of getting good at drawing cute anime waifus.

I think it's lovely. The only thing I'd change is the shading of the face. I think it looks a little too flat in comparison to the rather detailed shading of the hair and clothes. Maybe anime figures or dolls could be a useful source on how to render an anime face more three-dimensionally.

I used Photoshop. Before doing this one, I was complete shit at coloring but as I made this one, I experimented a lot and these are what I kept in mind:

Hue shifts are important. The apron is red, but there are colors warming up and cooling. In the highlights of the apron, you can see I shifted the color more towards yellow while I cooled the red towards more purple in the shadows. Open up w/e program you use and drag your color picker across the apron and you can see the hue indicator jump around.

Highlight, midtone, shadows, reflected light. The sleeve of the right arm I think best shows this. There are highlights on top, and then in the middle, I put a thin line of shadows and then a color of a value in between below it. Again, you can see some hue shifting in there too. Also, make sure your midtones and shadows are saturated. I think in real life, you'll see midtones have the most saturation, but in anime or stylized stuff, you'll want to saturate your shadows too. Generally just keep your highlights desaturated.

Vary the edges. Use your hard brushes and soft brushes equally. This was big for me because I never used brushes that had opacity jitter off and I always wondered why my colors always looked shitty and muddy. In most things you paint, there are soft color changes and hard color changes depending on how the form turns and whatnot. So don't blend every new color you introduce, first think if there should be a hard edge or a soft edge.

Work big to small. When I start coloring, I put the base color in, make the brush the biggest I can for the job, and paint in the lights and shadows. This helps keep you focused on which areas are in shadow and in light and then you can build up your details inside of them. I think you can best see this in the hair.

This got pretty long and I'm no expert but I hope this helps you out.

Even though you're drawing stylized I think you should try copying her facial expression more, just to make sure you get practice drawing different faces. In this case a slightly open mouth and eyebrows arched the other way.
