no matter what i draw it always looks unappealing af.
Im doing some fundie practices and studies like bg and objects around my house but i don't see how it helps me at all.
Also how do people line without it being all chicken af. If i use a hard brush it gets all the squiggles and nastiness even if I draw lines quickly and if i use a softer brush i have to go over it a ton to get a line that's solid enough to be notable.

As for the squiggly lines i'm not sure what you mean just by looking at the image. It could be the brush has no stabilization, or a driver issue?

I didn't put an example of my squiggly line up here but you can see my chicken scratch lines. It might be cause i draw on the screen and it has no texture. Got this tablet as a gift. And yeah faces been giving me a ton of trouble i been trying constructing and using the triangle to center the faces correctly but as i get further in i just keep having to restart the faces. Also I use sai2 and photoshop. I switch between the 2 often but recently been using sai 2 more since i got my hotkeys setup and stuff and havent done it with photoshop again.

I tried to redraw a drawing I did last year to see in which ways I have improved. Neck is a bit long. I tried pushing contrast, but obviously could be pushed further. Not sure how I’m going to go about coloring it.

Look like two different styles to me.

The really high jawline reminds me of Oyari Ashito. It causes the faces to look somewhat lopsided, although I *think* they could be technically correct, they just look off cause all we see of them is the outlines.

I think I recognise your art from another board. Cute pose. Try making the head larger and shifting it to viewer left. It looks like it's floating away from her neck the way it is now.
I'm also personally not a fan of those bangs, the way they're chunked looks flat, stiff, and thin in comparison to the rest of the hair. Try some soft, blunt bangs to see how it feels.
The eyes also feel too large and out of place. Loomis is your friend (or Reilly, or whoever you prefer).

Overall good start and nice attention to detail.

I think what he meant was you just tried to copy that style. That's all good but if you don't know your fundamentals you could end up missing details.

- Compare the boobs on your drawing and your reference.: look at difference in volume and how her left boob reacts when squished by her left arm.
- If your changing the pose of her head make sure to account for her neck.
- Take note of the length of her right arm as well. It might be difficult to measure the arm whenever it is raised at level of the shoulder but in yours it's a bit shorter.

I literally never use reference. I did today because I wanted to try a different coloring style. And your insight on the "shaky" lines is wrong because I clean my sketch with an eraser, that's why it looks uneven. I wasn't focusing on the anatomy in this piece, but on the colors.

Does anyone else have tips for starting drawing digitally? Am I supposed to be only drawing with my shoulder arm because I don't get how you would do smaller movements for details. What do I do when holding the pen makes my fingers hurt/ feel stiff? Drawing digitally feels weird to me and I don't know why, it might be the disconnect of not seeing your hand / pencil
