i think that positive compassionate shows like gravity falls and regular show and stuff are actually a really big step forward in children's entertainment, but my blood boils when stupid retarded adults turn them into some fucked up fetishy part of their identity and push the shows into annoying fan service nonsense that isn't even for kids anymore. i hate this clean, rounded and polished style of animation now but only because of how STUPID it all became on a narrative level.

I can't tell you how many times I've jacked it to Star vs The Forces of Evil, so I'm glad Adventure Time happened. But the artstyle can go now, nothing better than SvtFoE will happen and the other cartoons are just too dumb.

Besides, super hero shows have been coming back the past couple of years already. Toonami's back online, Samurai Jack S5 happened last year, and Teen Titans S6 was teased not to long ago.

Because they're freakin boring. Superhero movies, cartoons and comics almost all follow the same scheme. There's a bad guy in town and the good guys are out to get him. They don't manage by the first time? Hell, they're gonna get him in the sequel. That's why I hate everything 'superhero'. Maybe apart from the Watchmen, that was something different. I just don't like the world to be portrayed as bipolar (good and evil), don't think it's of any value for the kids either.

It's also why i have the utmost appreciation for the new (ok maybe not so new now) Cartoon Network stuff like Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steve Universe, Uncle Grandpa, We Bare Bears not to mention the masterpiece that's Behind The Garden Wall. Every episode comes with a twist, they're funny, they send positive messages, but not always the same ones. Adventure Time will always have a place in my heart.

That's not true at all though. It's actually a very common trope in those older superhero cartoons to introduce the villain as a regular person with relatable struggle and often times good intentions at first and then, due to a character flaw or circumstances beyond their control, turn them into the villain. Teaching kids that you aren't born good or evil, but it takes conscious effort to make the right choices. Like how Two Face was once an idealistic lawyer who wanted just like Batman to bring criminals to justice. Or how Mr. Freeze just wanted to save his wife who was dying of cancer. Batman TAS in particular had lots of depth and maturity for a cartoon that modern day CN shows can't even scratch the surface of. But even the less revered shows had often times way more depth than you give them credit for.

I think it has less to do with the hot buzzword of the week, "incels" and more to do with regular people getting interested in a property, book, game, TV show, etc, and wanting it to end a certain way. Or being lead down a path that makes it feel like it will end a certain way only to have the path take an planned 180 degree turn with some shit a writer pull out their ass. This isn't a new concept, we can see this repeated throughout all media not just cartoons where people want certain characters to end up together. It doesn't have anything to do with alt-right or incels, maybe you need to go back to /pol.

I haven't watched adventure time in years so I have no clue how this ending was "set up" but shipping Marceline and PB is some lesbian wet dream shit tumblr sjw's have been pushing for years and years. It's not a surprise that the early seasons of this show when none of that agenda was there are popular and these latter seasons that push more of an agenda were less watched.

The point being if your making something that people seem to like just keep creating what you had in mind. Don't alter what you were going to do to appease a small group of fans at the expense of the larger customer base. Adventure time has been on for a ton of years so I doubt it died because of lesbians, but plenty of other properties have bit the dust because of pushing some ham fisted preachy agenda that customers just dont give three shits about.

Nah. I always liked how Japanese media handled homosexuality, vs. how it's handled in western media. In Japanese media (Anime, television dramas, films) the characters are just gay, and it's just kind of there. Usually a lot more enjoyable that way.

Star is extremely overrated and has weird political commentary. It's not even intelegent commentary, literally something like "lol feminism". At least adventure time showed the characters gay and straight of all races and species defeat a representation of war and chaos with friendship and order by harmonizing their song.

Like, star is OK, but I think it should be judged as a young adult show (because kids don't fucking care about politics) , and it is very lacking in that respect.
