Kek. Of course you only hear about the success stories. The guys who drew all day and night for a decade and never improved will shut their mouth and keep drawing for fun or get discouraged and stop.

Let's not ignore the fact a lot of them have either been good since they were kids or improved very quickly when they started later in life. Drawing a lot is important for every one but we're talking about how fast you improve and what ceiling do you reach and cease improving, regardless of what age you start drawing seriously.

There are literally people who cant think in pictures. They may have high verbal skills but can't visualize simple forms in their head.

Regardless this is not an argument to stop drawing or neck yourself. You don't need to be that great to make a living of your art or enjoy creating art.

>> No.3589561

He has no taste, and can only draw things recognizable as human. Never takes anything a step above or below a likeness. Simply draws a face and moves on. Not the mark of a great artist.

The guy is in his forties, he's been drawing hours a day for decades.

Moderndayjames studies Kim Jung Gi and built an ability to draw like him on command. Drawing from imagination with no construction is do-able for anyone whose drawn enough. 90% of /ic/ can't and won't and that's fine, but if you want to be able to do it, you can train yourself to.

The main thing you should worry regardless of how you construct your drawing is how the final product looks. That's all that anyone cares about.

It has more to do with muscle memory than brain power.
It's not about seeing in your head, it's using knowledge of things you have seen and observed.
You won't be able to "see" your dear grandmother in your head but you know what she looks like. You know what her hair color is like, you know what the color of her eyes is and the shape of her head. If you actually looked her in the eyes for once you would know these things and if you gave it some thought you could draw it. You don't need some kind of silly image viewer in your brain to do that.

Holy shit anons in this thread claiming you can't see images in your head made me realize why a lot of people failed a technical drawing class i had when i was in school. The exams require you to rotate complex object in your head and draw it from a different perspective.

I had the highest score in the class and been wondering why people found it hard. Jesus fucking Christ, some of you can't even visualize your relatives in your head? How about some thing as simple as a candle lit in a dark room?

Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others cant. And it's not something magical as some of you are making it out to be. It's similar to what you see in your dream except clearer and you have control over what you see.

I'm wondering if it's even possible to be an artist with something like this. Pretty much every book you read every lecture you watch comes down to "visualizing what you want to draw".

>> No.3589759

You can go to the fine arts. most concept art requires visualization. You are trying to explain forms in simple shapes, which requires you to visualize it in your head first.
At least in fine art you can rely on copying what you see, if you are in to that type of art. Have you tried copying a photograph as you see it?
Can you transfer the shapes to paper?
If you can't you can also use proportional divider. It can help you see relative distance between two points better

>> No.3589772

Why would he? He can see what he wants to draw in his head, clear as day. And he's done it enough that he can easily put it on the paper accurately the first time everytime.

If you could visualize something as clear as you claim, you'd have no excuse to not be as good as KJG. So either you are lying or you are exaggerating your ability to visualize here because we all know your art is remarkably shit for having apparently such great visualization.
