It's not really anythign special to have a female staff though. If I'm not mistaken, Kyoani, one of the biggest, most prolific animation studios around, is also an almost all female team yet they never once had to gloat about that in advertizement of one of their shows.

Also, this isn't airing on network television. Little girls don't have a fucking crunchyroll subscription to begin with. I couldn't tell you what target demographic does have a crunchyroll subscription, I suppose normie anime fans who like to watch stuff like Attack on Titan and Naruto?

Why can't westerners make pseduo anime that doesn't fall into the magical girl arena or sterotypical "elements" (fire,wind,water,earth) with focus on asian architecture? If these women making High Spice wanted to be "diverse" they've already been beaten to it.

There is already an all girl team who've made things for girls. Theres already been a non-white head director who did what they did. The only difference here is none of them boasted about it. Hell they're not even the first CR original showing if going by logic here from the other past exclusives and current ones.

A lot of people complaining is because Crunchyroll, a site that sells the point that part of the money they get goes to the anime industry, gave a western studio money. People feel kinda cheated. Also in the promotional video, not only do you not get any info on the show, the people shit on other studios and imply they're the only ones capable of producing quality western cartoons.

In addition, they didn't base their entire product around that dynamic. If it happened just by coincidence, or they were women who just knew each other, then there's really nothing to complain about.
Also, they made good stuff. Even guys found it appealing to some degree.
The problem with the HGS people is that's their selling point.
The show is directed towards the young girl audience.
