You never want to 'borrow' too much or be too influenced from one particular artist, but if you start to experiment and incorporate different styles from different artists into your own workflow, then you start to discover new things.

Developing your own style is overrated. You can do that but it's not a good thing to do business-wise. If you master one style it'll get you commissions for a few years tops. After that everyone will get bored of it and assume you'd stopped evolving

As I understand it, a style is basically what you like drawing and emphasizing and exaggerating or de-emphasizing as well as the echoes of your influences. I just develops as you go along and draw. You CAN consciously develop it, in that you know what you want and move towards that goal, though.
