They're pencil_tilt (left) and pencil-5_tilted (right), both are Krita's default brushes.

I don't have a tilting stylus, but it's fun working with an asymetrical brush tip. You can also rotate the canvas to get nice gradients, like below her eye.

maybe in anime or comics or some shit but that's about it. The face is always the subject first. And if you're shooting a person whose hands are behind a door frame anyway, keeping the head top third centered is ALWAYS going to be the primary focus.

Widing all the way out to include her fucking ankles and the top of the door frame A: probably wasn't possible with that lens in that apartment, and B: is filling the dang frame a whole bunch of walls and boring shit. It'd kind of be terrible framing.

I didn't take the photo m8. The photographer likely is standing against a wall taking this shot. They'd have to change lenses and it'd ultimately only make the subject of the photo smaller in the frame.

By what standard are you saying that though? In photography and filmmaking it fucking isn't. It's weird to wide out to include a fucking knee for no reason.

The photograph was clearly taken with the focus being on where the HEAD is in the frame. NOT where the fucking ankles are.

If you're doing a MWS like the OP image, you cut off at the thigh meat. The thigh isn't a joint. Neither is the forearm. Composition is also about functionality and aesthetics and intent and stuff. Like sure for a drawing exercise it's not great composition or whatever, but as a photograph it's fine. Her hands are blocked by the wall anyway and the focus of the picture is her head and torso and lewd armpits and mischief face, not her fucking feet.

Including everything in the frame just cuz isn't just inherently "good composition." Whoever told you that wanted you to fail.

this is so autistic for so many different reasons.

So basically just NEVER shoot a subject doing something naturally. Just never do or try to capture a super common thing that people do when they're posing in doorways.

And even in terms of aesthetics of function or intent, what Daisy Ridley is doing is conveying an entirely different emotion. The Ridley pose makes her seem more poised and kind of nervous while the Lake Bell pose makes her imposing and intimidating and stuff.

Plus they're entirely different actions. What's the point of putting the actress in a doorway if they can't interact with it? And even worse, how would them awkwardly posing in a doorway so that their arms are up but you can still see their hands somehow be "better" composition?

You are never supposed to ask for it but some people do. The issue is that some people, like delivery drivers, don't deserve a tip. I have a full time job and I don't get tips when I do my job properly, though if I am exceptional I may get a bonus. Mildly related, how do you make the most out of drawing from 2D reference? Don't really have a choice when studying anatomy, but i've always had the impression that you learn the best drawing from life.. What's the mindset I should at least have when resorting to 2D references?
