I can't enjoy art anymore (this includes books, movies, etc.) because my obsession with critique has made me see art as a math problem with objective value. I don't see pictures or stories anymore... just products to be dissected.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Well I do have that, except I used to enjoy art.

I had that feels and then I worked in the production industry for a bunch of years and it kind of makes you appreciate when things are well executed, even if you are still dead inside and cynical.

I don't enjoy practicing any more, it feels so repetitive and boring. Not the same thing but i just want to share.

That's because you are still stuck in simple, tropey, digestible art instead of venturing towards experimental art with layers of interpretation and meaning.

you have to become good or at least decent at art, then you'll get over your dunning kruger hyper critical phase. When you're bad at art, but you're starting to learn about the fundamentals your brain tries to rationalize that all art with a handful of exceptions is just as bad as what you are capable of. In your mind you have your list of approved masters who you can safely praise and everyone else, no matter how competent, is just as shit as you are because they drew an elbow that was too pointy or messed up some perspective lines.

Once you get better at art yourself, you will still see the flaws in other people's artwork, but you will also be able to see the strengths in their work, which allows you to enjoy art again.

We get it, you're 14, this is very deep. Go fuck off with your made up autistic bullshit.

I gotta imdb page and everything. Most of my "career" was in industrials with occasional tv and movie work. Have done film work as a set-dresser, craft service coordinator, associate producer, head production office assistant, and a bunch of other shit. Set up Tom Hank's hotel room one time. Weeks later he barked at me in his underwear. And I've built entire warehouse sets for industrial videos.

You realize that every city has a production industry right? Not necessarily THAT hard to get your foot in the door somewhere and start making contacts. Granted you kind of have to not be a miserable pretentious piece of shit faggot 18 year old so it may be hard for you.

this is what happens when you have no creativity and no originality.

As long as you keep working at your art and keep evolving your interest in art, this will eventually disappear.
But before that happens this is a perfect opportunity to check out new and different things!

Go through those artsy classics that you probably haven't bothered with before!
For visual stimulation I sincerely recommend Tarkovsky and Bergman. They could also teach you a lot about composition.

you're in the intermediate part of the journey.

once you get good you'll stop thinking so hard about the objective things and your creativity and abstract mode of thought will return.

I think this is true. The early to mid intermediate phase is often full of limited thinking, trying to quantify everything and condense it into a reliable formula.

30 year olds are just 20 year olds trying to feel sad for no fucking reason. You're just repeating you're teenage angst all over again. You felt young 5 years ago and now you're just an old worthless piece of shit? You've gotten to the age where many can just now grow a proper beard.

After ~23 your mind and body stops development. There is no more growth. Only decay.

>> No.3572606

Not only is the brain plasticity thing a meme but you are a conscious being with memories who can build upon concepts with new concepts.

If you're even remotely capable of critical thinking and rational thought you can continue to develop mentally until senility. Not to mention it's just fucking obvious you can develop your body after 23 in terms of muscle/health/ability.
