Both of these are the same character, drawn about 3 years apart. I didn't use references for either of them and it took me about an hour each to draw them at the time I created them.

What do you guys think? Am I finally considered "decent" yet?

You've shown progress, for sure. What would really help you though is to keep practicing.

>Draw on bigger paper so you can draw with more detail.
>Do gestural studies so you can draw more interesting poses.
>Do some studies of clothes and hair so you can draw more interesting hair and clothes

Right now your work looks like a doodle. Put more time and effort into it.

That's amazing improvement, don't focus on the endgame just enjoy the fact you've improved and the knowledge that you will continue to.

Still considered beginner due to the 'L' nose and symbol anatomy. From the image it seems like you're 15 years old at most.

Good for your age, im sure. I used to be proud of not using references for poses, and you should be proud of your art, but using reference is the best way to improve and learn anatomy so i really hope you use more. I, like many others, can tell that you need it.

I think it's important to study gestures so you can do dynamic and accurate poses, I don't like to draw on top of a referenced pose, its a cheap trick

I draw 2 hours a day for the last year, and ive been animating in general for 10 years but I'm still not as good as 2018 op

>> No.3577689

>>3576823
- well depends on what kind of animation. skeletal rigged animation is not animation here.
- 2 hours a day is a lot if you're not lying. but drawing fruits is never going to make you draw people from imagination.
- you need to study and be really open to critique.
- also 2hours in one drawing is nothing. the construction part is what matters. adding details and details is a waste of time if you want to improve fast.

That's decent progress if you're in middle school, but seriously OP if you wanna git gud like your favorite mangka, join the Beginner thread, download all the Andrew Loomis books in the book thread, and for the hell of it make a Pinterest account and save a shitload of references and follow some art boards

good luck famlam
