The trick is to use a baseball glove when you draw.
It gives you a tighter grip around your pencil.

Make sure you oil up the glove first!

As Is? No.
You need a lot of improvement to sell your work, and to draw from imagination is a whole can of worms.

Who the fuck knows anon. It's not about how your studies look right now but if you're still studying regularly 5 years from now.

>Listening to a moron who thinks any drawing system is objectively better than any other.

Op don't listen to morons like this, someone who's probably 14 and just parrots moronic statements he read some other moron say. Taking advice like this is a surefire way to not make it. Just try everything, see what works for you and do whatever helps you improve.

This.
Don't draw all your water from one well.
Look at all sorts of books/tutorials and find the best techniques and styles you enjoy.
Of course, focus on the fundamentals to start, and take it from there.

I'll share my experience so far with Loomis.

I read the sticky since I wanted to get into a bit of drawing again. I followed the sticky's advice and started with Loomis.

I did my best to draw unique characters (not copying his, I did however take inspiration from him). It feels like I have made some progress quite quickly. I drew in 1-2h sessions/day on and off for the past 2 weeks, and now I've made it to the ball and plane method.

To the left you can see my first drawings following Loomis, and to the right you can see my first ball and plane method drawing. I think that you can see progress.

I'm in no way saying that my drawing on the right is perfect or even good. Just wanted to share my experience with Loomis so far.

Remember that when doing cross-contour lines around a cylinder or sphere, the line curves heavily towards the two edges, and it's a common beginner mistake to draw the line too straight.

Also, start dividing your faces into front, top, side and bottom planes (when applicable), keeping in mind the basic rules of perspective. Since your heads are currently perfect sphere, it's possible to see both the top and bottom plane at the same time (or both side planes together), but once you move onto more anatomically correct heads that may no longer be true.

I too like Having fun with a pencil.
Truth is I'm more of an /agdg/ but am now looking to improve my 2d skills a little. My aim is to be able to come up with cartoon like character concepts that I can later model in 3d for a game.
I wan't to be able to create a distinct style and thus I think if I can practice a lot of 2d eventually, i hope, a style will bloom out of that.
I think the important part is to work through the entire course material and to do a lot of excercise. Also I agree with this anon >>3568747
the more tools you have the better.
