I'm 42 years old. I was born in '76.
I did this when I was in 10th grade, back in '91. I was really into old metal and fantasy shit.
I felt I was more confident in trying to draw new things, all while doing it poorly. I didn't care and just went for it. I don't draw shit like this anymore. scenes and what not. It's kind of sad. It was on a big sheet of paper, so I had to scan it in sections.

>> No.3556688

My mom threw away everything, I used to have hundreds of drawings from when I was a kid.

You drew this the year I was born. Technical inaccuracies aside this is pretty fucking radical. What's your work look like today?

Here's my submission. Think I was like, 6, 7? The skeleton is saying "I meant fetch that bone not my bone".

>> No.3556695

That level would have been good enough to work for videogames at that time, man. I remember thinking how badass the manual art was in Warcraft I/II but you look at it today and you become more aware of its flaws. It's still metal as hell, though. Shame you don't draw anymore dude. I'd like to see more.

It's good enough for videogames at the time because it's traced. Probably from a videogame ad.

It's quite good for a 16 years old but terrible for an ad. Go study some fundies, anon.

Not him but you're missing his point. Look at Chris Metzen's original concept art for the Warcraft and Diablo series and you'll see that OP's work wasn't really that far off. This was near enough the standard back in the day. You forget that fantasy media concept artist wasn't exactly a prestigious role back then like it is today, hardly anybody did it.

How i'm missing the point? The quality of the art of one media at the time doesn't mean OF trace this drawing 100 years ago, are you high or something?

OP's already on death doorsteps, there is no need be a crab with him, think about the poor old man.

I think you misunderstand what the term crab means. Right now the only one being a crab here is you. How about you stop being a pussy bitch, man up and post some of your own older art here? Ofc you won't, because you only like shitting on others right :^)

I cannot imagine for the life of me someone with half a brain paying someone for a professional work with this level with the streets chock-full of better artists basically working for free. Furthermore for high fantasy where people praise so much for realism in Ads and this kind of stuff.

OP here. Holy shit, man. This thread was supposed to be about nostalgic shit we did when we didn't care or were serious as much about art.
I didn't trace this. Again, it's too shit to be traced. It's not an ad. It's just a drawing I did on that soft, fuzzy-ish shit poster paper for art class in 10th grade art class.

Some of you have some serious problems, or are so bored that you have to seek out arguments where none are to be found.

This place is a giant basket of crabs. You can sometimes get good ideas here, find some digital copies of art books, and - on occasion - get some valuable advice and critique if you get in with the right bunch of fellows, but always remember: this is 4chan. This site attracts trolls, autists, and assholes like moths to a flame, and there's about as much control here as there was in the wild wild west of the mid-1800's.

I found actual work from my childhood. This is a picture of John Quincy Adams I did for an elementary school project - sometime between fourth and sixth grade.

I agree in general with some art back in the time that was interesting but you felt like the artist still hadn't completed his training, however metzen's art in warcraft II's manual was and is still is pretty great. Sure it's not fine art but it's not trying to be. It's definitely competent and it also is somewhat distinct from other artwork
