Shit is this true? What the fuck are we supposed to use then? Fucking Patreon being potentially problematic recently, and PayPal doubling down on the stupidity?

I don't use a business account. Why would artists use business accounts for commission work?

that's the plan, so many people nowadays make bux with pp and patreon, literally any beg yt creator or tumblyrite blog. 80% of that is never taxed, and these corporate greedfaggots are very well aware of that. Basically they'll request some policy shit that demands customers to be even more transparent with their transactions and give up even more privacy, while those make past a certain amount per month, will get a softban until they provide their financial paperwork, if they work, where, how much, tax papers etc.

There needs to be a decent flexible crypto alternative, asap.

Why does everyone keep ignoring the important thing here? That image is talking only about paypal BUSINESS accounts. Do any of you use paypal business accounts? If so, why? I have been using a normal paypal account for client work since forever and it never occured to me to create a business account.

You sure this isn't some outdated information? I can't find anything about this anywhere online, not even on the paypal website itself. I had to verify my identity with my normal account once I received I think 2500$ and that was that. I was never asked to upgrade to business.

>>3548107
That seems fairly unnecessary outside of doing porn commissions, considering virtually any legitimate artist these days uses their real name online anyway.

So turns out this guy is either misinformed or was flat out lying. There is no annual limit for personal accounts according to paypal itself. There used to be business, premium and personal accounts but now it's only business and personal, with the former features of premium now being included in personal, that includes no limit for receiving money once you are verified.

The only major difference is a bunch of seller quality of life related features that are useful if you sell a product on ebay or other shops where people will order something from you and you'd require mass payment processing. Something a freelance artist wouldn't really need in most cases.

The only major difference between business and personal is a bunch of seller quality of life related features that are indeed necessary if you sell a real product on ebay or other shops where people will order something from you and you'd require mass payment processing. Freelance artists however have very little use of that.

Payoneer. Unlike paypal, they're not so intrusive as far as i've been working with them. Only problem is that you cannot make transactions with lower amounts than $100 but you still can connect your patreon account with it.

There's a new option called pagadito. Is a hispanic website that works like paypal but with higher fees and limited countries.

Both of these receive payments though credit cards.

I don't have a patreon myself, but can't you just link it directly to your bank account? Why would you need any third party involved with that?

No. You only pay $25 yearly for a debit card sent to you so you can withdraw you balance through it. You can also add a bank account as well.

I see posts like this appear every few months
Anytime paypal or patreon or tumblr or twitter updates their terms of service, one dumbass actually goes and reads it and makes a hyperbolic post about content in the terms that's been there for 10 years and doesn't mean what they think it means

These people never contact paypal about the terms for clarification, they don't speak to a laywer, they don't even ask their friends. They make a massive post pretending they know what they're talking about and telling their followers to do some retarded shit

>> No.3548430

I don't even use paypal but as far as i know, they limit your account if you perceive more than $1000. You can only clear the limit by sending the info they ask (tax info, SSN, address, ect.) A standard account is meant to be used only for buying stuff and send/receive money from family and friends.

Idiot OP just fucked and is shitting on paypal because it cannot be used to sell pre-orders. Also, everything OP stated doesn't appear in they TOS so, is just another typical, evidenceless callout tumblr post that gets over 100,000 notes. There's nothing to worry about.
