>first day you make decent progress, paint something you're actually satisfied with
>next day whilst continuing work on the piece, the clear picture you had in your mind yesterday is just gone, and you're tweaking around working on some parts for hours, that could have been done in 2h

Just what happens over night? Do we get so "proud" or let our guard down because we did some ok progress during the day before? Do we lose courage to create?

I'm interested if you guys know of any old masters books or advices, on how to deal with that sort of stuff. How to prevent it, or a mind trick to overcome it asap?

Draw for yourself, if you dont feel like drawing for a month then dont, wait it will come to you again, after all its a part of you, its like breathing.

You are an artist, this is what the fuck you do, you will do this on the happiest moments of your life and your saddest, you will do this amongst many friends and you will do this when you need someone but noone's there, you are an artist.

Is not that you forget, you just needed to be reminded :)

change in mood. change in what was on your mind. there's a myriad of things that change from day to day, let alone from moment to moment. just try taking a phone call mid sketch. it's like being interrupted while singing. it breaks momentum.

protip: learn alla prima. learn from real trad artists that pay attention to the human element in art.

The old masters planned out what they were gonna paint before actually putting the paint on canvas. They rarely played by ear.
