IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

I think you already know the answer tho, what would you say to someone who asked how to draw cars from any angle straight from their imagination? All you need to understand is that the human body is mad of shapes that are proportioned and learn how to foreshorten those shapes, and add value and details while staying accurately foreshortened. Basically you have to learn the fundamentals like human anatomy before you can just make any pose you want... you can also invest in a body-kun or more superior art model that can actually move with some flexability. (don't tell my body-kun i said that) but i woudn't rely heavily on it, real life reference is better. I hope an iphone picture is a small file.

I don't take any commissions, but i know that it depends where you live at least somewhat. For most sites you pay money through, you have to be of age, i might be wrong about that, but usually you have to have credit. If a kid pays through their moms credit card to get your nsfw art, the mom might try to hold you responsible so you should definitely research your country's laws on independent sales and pornography distribution.

I'm a little confused about the pose being struck by the arc-angle type dude, his face says proud and "submit or face my wrath, peasant," but his body is giving off an insecure, gotta pee wheres the bathroom, vibe. The juxtaposition is humorous, but im thinking its not what you're going for.
anyways, what you are making is a digital painting, don't forget that. Outlines represent shadow, but in a painting, priority should be to maintain the shapes without dark black outlines (unless its a comic). that, my friend, is your next step. go watch a speed paint on YouTube to see what i mean, get rid of your help lines, maintain the nice detailed values you have in the background throughout the rest, the foreground seems out of place in comparison.
oh and, please tell me that winged guy is massive sized, because the size of your warrior's torso tells me he's either a giant in the sky or behind the warrior, not in front. You can make that clear by either resizing him if hes normal sized, or applying depth of field if hes far away and huge.

Extremely stylized and difficult to critique, not in a good way. would be very cool if it were in a game, but you should look at some really high level pixel-work, there can be much more detail and realism applied, even in pixel art. for example that fire is almost too cartoonist. look at some black and white pixel art to see that you can be detailed with limited colors. Interested to see where you go from here tho, i love the idea.

Use your shoulder and arm.
They have a higher range of motion than your wrist does, and are accurate even at short motions and on smaller surfaces like a regular sized sheet of copy paper.

Fill sheets of copy paper with circles, shapes, lines and what have you to loosen up and exercise your drawing muscles, and dedicate some time to purely practice your draftsmanship.

It's not a lesson per se, more that you take something you want to be able to draw and just fake it until you make it. Find something that doesn't look right, but don't fix it - start over, and do it right this time. It's helped me quite a lot, and is a hell of a lot less frustrating than "I know something is wrong, but I don't know how to fix it".

I seemed to remember one of them was doing paid lesson plans, but I can't find it. I'll keep looking. I know ... Just kidding, I found it, it was just neither of those people.

https://cubebrush.co/mb/products/mmfwyq-tRBD/art-school

Expensive, though. I've thought of putting forward the cash, but, "you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a fucking education you could've got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library".

But really the best thing you could do is learn the differences between female and male anatomy, then being able to draw one would mean being able to draw the other. Question: I have a drawing tablet (Huion H610PRO Painting Drawing Pen Graphics Tablet) but I want to buy a drawing tablet with a screen because I think it will be more natural to draw. I don't use the tablet I have now because it feels unnatural for me to use it. I don't mind buying a new tablet (this one in question: Huion KAMVAS GT-191 Drawing Tablet with HD Screen 8192 Pressure Sensitivity - 19.5 Inch) but the question is should I buy it or should I just stick with the one I have now? Was the feeling of drawing with a tablet unnatural for everyone else and if it was, is there tips and advice to get around that feeling?

an issue with my pencils,
I was gifted a tin of derwents and so I'm no longer just using a mechanical pencil. I really like them but I struggle to use the flat sides of them for shading and the like - the wood is really soft and using a regular sharpener does absolutely nothing to give me a side of graphite to use for broader strokes.

Considering how your other stuff in this thread looks, this one is pretty horrible. Even more so if you take into account that you only had to draw simple boxes.

>no foreshortening on the chapel's(?) front side
>even after putting in vanishing points and perspective lines, the sides of the window/door recesses don't follow them

When drawing from (2-dimensional) reference, your accuracy is really impressive. Which is clearly a helpful skill. But you should really up your perspective game. How about you draw furniture in your room or houses in a street (I expect lots of right angles, plus you draw from life) for a change?

Human figures can be simplified into boxes in space. So that requires perspective and construction. Persepective made easy is a good book. Try draw a box as well. And look up what the sticky recommends for learning perspective.

You also need to work on your lines. You don't have much precision or dexterity with a pen yet it seems. This is just learned through lots of practice. Draw whatever you want, even anime. Try to keep your lines clean and neat, not scratchy. Don't be lazy with them because if you're drawing from imagination, your lines will be your bread and butter. Keep it at a decent pace too, don't slow down your lines. You want to learn how to be efficient. Start drawing plenty from imagination as well.

Aside from that, you also need to learn your figure drawing. You might not want to learn how to add value or render, but you still need to understand anatomy at least so that you won't be stuck drawing boxes. Check out Proko and Michael Hampton.

>> No.3530027

I think he means that your drawing is the same size as your subject and you make sure (even if you just use a pen as measuring tool) that lengths and angles are reproduced accurately.

https://fineartviews.com/blog/73275/pros-and-mostly-cons-of-sight-size-method
https://www.studydrawing.com/sight-size

I think that this would indeed be a legitimate method to reproduce the bargue plates and even real life reference. And if this is what you want to achieve then there's nothing wrong with it. But it might lead to overreliance on direct reference if you only look at the line and angle you're drawing and lose the feeling for the overall form of the entire subject. You might also not learn how to draw from imagination or to rotate the subject in your mind.

Add some more color to the face, different tones, reds, yellow, greens, etc. It's too monochrome. Eyes are not just pure white. Irises are not just pure blue.

Work on your values too. Face looking flat. Build the structure of the features by defining the different planes through values. Think like you're sculpting out shapes with value rather than painting a flat portrait.

Easy way to make your figure look 3d is by thinking about the light source and adding the major shadows in there to define the shape of the head. If you know the light source, then you can figure out where shadows are necessary and you can shorthand them in.

Think less in lines and more in value. Lose the lines for the eyes and the nose or else it looks like symbol drawing. Indicate them with shades of value instead.

Gesture is a combo of a bunch of things. Yes, it's capturing the action, but it's also capturing the balance of weight and the rhythm of the body.

Instead of copying the figure, think about building the figure. Think about the structure and weight of the figures you're drawing. It leads to a better gesture overall.

no consistency in the lines you're trying to use to convey shape. theyre just all over the place and convey nothing.
try doing it by creating a 3d shape drawing the back of those shapes where you normally wouldnt be able to see (so wrap those lines you're drawing right the way around the shape). start with simpler shapes, too, like a cylinder - and then change that shape slightly over and over.

While some of this is surely interesting and helpful, it's not really for people who don't know what they are doing. How does it help you to know how the curves go on a leg seen from the front if you don't know why these curves are there. It doesn't tell you anything about the shapes that create those curves and nothing about the anatomy that creates these shapes. If you have a good grasp of perspective and a decent one of anatomy it's a good read on how other artists simplify body shapes but it might mislead an absolute beginner.
