Drawing the skin is much funnier for anatomy studies, you get both bones and muscles volumes, the ones that stand out. Plus, it's relevant when changing body types.

This is how I would do it.
Grab a fuck ton of references off a search engine, then try figure out the particular pose and angle I want based off them.

True story: I peed underneath a table around my classmates when I was in Pre-K. The thought of the 2 girls next to me seeing my wee wee is probably the first wee wee they ever saw. I vividly remember their expressions. And wow, the teacher had to mop it up!

I'm not really great at explaining this, since I'm not even a good artist in the first place, so I'm sorry if this isn't helpful. naf can probably give a better answer.

But basically when I'm sketching I'm just mostly thinking about making appealing shapes first. That's why it looks so bare-bones and minimal. You don't need elaborate and busy strokes to make primitive tubular shapes.

I used to draw with a thick silhouette brush inspired by Doxy and Norasuke tutorials, and it helped me a lot with silhouette thinking.

Another technique I learnt from moatdd tutorials, is to "interpolate" (as he calls it) your lines. It basically means to leave gaps between your stokes. This lets you focus more on the flow and not get bogged down by precision, even when drawing with thin lines.

Offloading some of the construction lines to you head rather than to the paper also helps with that

Also, my sketches are not accurate at all, there's a lot of misaligned lines, leftover dusts from erasing, implied details, etc. It's also not set in stone at all, you can even see that I changed the arms quite a lot by the end. So just focus on the big picture, don't think about the little details and just offload those issues to future you (probably not really a good advice).

With all of this in mind, it's really not inefficient at all once you get used to it really.

But in the end, there's really no right or wrong way to sketch, so these are all just purely personal preferences. Just find a way that is comfortable to you.

Somebody in /btg/ complained we didn't have enough chibi-style art of the mechs, except for stuff that had been done for Macross, which really doesn't count. I really like that you are taking your time to make sure you're drawing the real forms instead of symbol drawing, but I think you should be focusing on quantity of sketches rather than quality.

let's all challenge ourselves to do a bit more than we are, beat the average, and gain new grounds everyday. it's great that daddies are drawing everyday but the next big step is to slowly increment those hours. i think mileage really is the next big step in the road to gmi. keep going daddies.

I can't believe I filled up a sketchbook in 3 months since I joined /las/. Usually an 80 page sketchbook takes up to 1.5+ years because I rarely grind at all

everyone is at different levels and if filling a sketchbook in 3 months is a huge personal improvement to you, then i would say its a huge success. I know some people and even myself had trouble even picking up a pencil and start drawing, but after joining dad/las it kept me going. so keep going and well done

Craig Mullins schoolisum course is the only tutorial series that matters imo. In general I think the most important thing that I've learned about painting is to just not give up on an image if it looks like ass, just keep going till it looks good, you'll get it right eventually
