My point is, most outside panting is rubbish. No one needs another hay stack at sunrise. I've got this thing that I've go to do something. Maybe voyeuristic observations? Outside painting it's an awful genre, I'm looking how to find something there. What is my problem? That I'm really unhappy, but it's go to be good or what is the point. I'd probably still give you the same answer: Make a bunch of paintings and work it out. What you're talking about, or looking for is your take on painting landscapes. Sorta like finding your style, how you handle the subject matter, whether it's how you stylize what you see, adding in fantastical elements, or how you alter the colors, composition, etc. Is something only you can figure out by trying out a shit ton of stuff and seeing where that takes you.

What your asking is for one of us to invent the next interesting thing right here on the spot and thats just not how creativity or innovation works. You can also try looking at a bunch of fine artists who interest you and see what sort of things they do to make the boring more interesting. steal stuff from them and after you paint a few hundred paintings you'll have developed some of your own unique ways of doing things.

Why can't you do what you want? The motivation should be to make art you find interesting or enjoy making because there's no way to know if it'll be popular with other people. You can't know what you're doing will catch on or be seen as this big interesting thing. People who become popular didn't know they would be when they started making art. They just made stuff they liked and it ended up happening. Go paint what you want to paint, chasing some illusive idea about being the next innovator or being popular is pointless and beyond your control.

You need to find something interesting to paint then. Look around your area for parks, historical landmarks, natural oddities, or interesting places and visit them (sans paint). Take some time and look around for a cool angle, or different way of viewing whatever you decide for your subject to be.

Think about it in terms of viewing angles, and try to visit it during different lighting conditions. Make a rough plan of what you want to accomplish in the painting, then go do it.

You're right, no one needs another haystacks in the morning pic, so don't be lazy and paint another one. Put the time into doing something worthwhile. A lot of outside painting is low effort as far as subject matter is concerned (not necessarily the painting itself), and I think thats what hurts it.
