Recently, Zorn palette oil tubes. I'm a newbie to color but I don't like watercolor or pastels and I wanted to see how I'd do with oils without splurging too much money.

Deleter ink works well with Copics but Pilot is better.

I just pulled out this conventional sharpener and inserted a rounded 2mm sharpener. I wish more 2mm sharpeners were built like this. The other compartment holds an eraser. I can finally quit wood case pencils altogether.

I've almost completely transitioned into Charvin and Gamblin paints from Lukas brand paints. I have one blue now instead of a billion, and I've replaced all the washed out crappy yellows I used to use like Brilliant and Naples with Cadmium yellows and a Yellow Ochre.

G-pens are are in the perfect Goldilocks zone of like weight to pressure ratio. I've yet to find a better drawing pen.

Loosely followed some posts on WetCanvas about fitting a crow quill onto a cheap fountain pen like a Preppy, but fucked around with it in other ways. Problem: putting more time into figuring out what can work best when not following another setup 1:1. I'm not sure when I'll come across a massive ink leak or seeing the tines fucked up by the cap - I'm expecting such results in the first place 2bh. Also, there's lots of room for improvement I think. Can't be so careless with this type of nib unlike other fountain pen mods that use G Nibs (since the Zebra titanium version exists for that) RE: eventual rusting over.
It has been functioning fine enough for the past day or so. I'm having fun with it though. I've yet to try out that Ackerman pump pen that uses the same type of nib to see if this mod is similar to that product.

Interesting idea. I seem to recall the preppy has a wick feed, so adding more wick leading to the nib might be a more elegant solution than what you've done and what I saw in those threads. I'm imagining a nylon cord as a wick because it could be partially melted to stay affixed to the nib tines as they spread, or just to give it some stiffness. I have a few Preppys I can sacrifice towards this goal, but it will have to wait a few days.

That's awesome, man! I am very inept when it comes to (fountain) pen technology, on top of little know how about actual crafting & building shit now that I think about it. On the other hand, if others more familiar with such topics can adapt & mod components more easily, that'd be real swell. Honestly though, I'd love to see more fountain pen mods like this popping up in the future to compliment the G-Nib conversions. On topic, a new art supply is on its way which was mentioned in my last post. Because of Ackerman's claim of using "any india or acrylic inks" in his pens, I'd like to study his crowquill model once I actually get my hands on it.
The customer service is not very good at all, even when coming in with various old reviews in mind that mention such problems. It would be really nice to get this pen mod going with those viscous inks, so as to save others the frustration of dealing with this guy. Dude seems like the opposite of Mr. Tardiff from Noodler's Inks in regards to communication - which is a real damn shame given the price point... Those Noodler's Ahab/Konrad pen mods that use the G-Nib are pretty cool, even great, once one learns how to fuck around with altering it to their needs. I'm sure there's gonna be more tinkering to do with the Ackerman pens, but the info available on site is the bare damn minimum. Guess all of this stuff mentioned is the real price to pay for such a convenience item.

If you actually go through with modification, it'd be cool to see how the end result turned out for ya. Good luck to you and >>3516124 with the tinkering!
