What should I read/watch for simplified anatomy? I just want to play with human bodies in space and I don't need anything complex for that I think.

it doesnt get more simple than this:

2 arms
2 hands
2 legs
2 feet
1 torso
1 head

wow, it's almost as simple as stick figures

incorrect, breaking the body up into limbs n shit is amateur, you get weird articulated figures like medieval art

>> No.3497285

>>3497282
oh? so its incorrect to state those are components of the body?

feel free to build your character while leaving even one of those components out, and see how much they grow to resent you? :2

They aren't components they're divisions, divisions which are antithetical to good figure drawing.

components arent components :2

interesting observation.

(Just get past the first few videos that are filled with cringey "humor" and you'll have a wealth of anatomy videos)

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Unless you're directly copying a figure from reference, you need to first start off with a gesture to get the basic idea of where everything needs to go and give it a strong pose, then you go over that with construction drawing and finalise it.
Those steps tend to meld together the more experienced you are, but thats still the basic concept of how it works.

I found it extremely helpful to study the sketchbooks of disney artist, their stylized life drawings are great

Glen Vilppu, Loomis, Bridgman and Burne Hogarth. Look through their work and see what resonates with you.

Oh yeah, almost forgot Gesture Drawing For Animation. Good gesture ties together the figure.

A gesture is the whole body not a shambles of limbs, art starts generally, limbs are one step too specific, gestures aren't stick men

Take a figure drawing class, or go to an open studio. You will seriously get better faster than reading a book or watching a video. When you get to draw from a 3D figure, you will have an easier time translating that to 2D and any style you want to.

But if you don't want to do that, I think Alphonso Dunn has a great video: https://youtu.be/waHuGbyjghA
