Anyone who bothers to get to a high level of skill is obviously going to be making money off their art. This is how the entire art world is today. If you think about it, this is "pop art", and I'm starting to think that following these trends is indeed the way to making it. Think about the music industry for example, there is all the sophisticated classical music that does everything right, and it makes no money and gets you nowhere, but it's pure. And then there is all the current pop music fads, like "mumble rap" and Justin Beiber or whoever is on the radio right now. They're the ones scooping up all the money, and then when the trend passes the ones who are able to change with the times continue profiting, and the ones who can't change fall to the wayside with VANILLA ICE.
