I don't think so - it doesn't say that in the rules for the mecha challenge.

You could submit drawings (including WIP) for your mecha challenge entries at other times and have them count towards your DAD streak, but only mark them for the mecha challenge if they are The Finished Product™. If you chose to submit all five finished entries on one day it should only bump your streak once, as "daily" is the maximum frequency value.

I’m out and about moving furniture and other stuff back home. Drew on the car ride 45 minutes before the deadline. My phone ran out of battery, so I had to use my parent’s phone to both take a picture and resize it, which ended up taking too long.

The only time-stamped evidence I have is the time indicating when a photo is taken on this phone, but as that can be easily fabricated/altered it is only fair for me to accept my fate.

Besides, as a tier-posting anon has indicated: what the fuck is the point of the streak if what I am currently producing is shit, anyway? It’s been 3 years and I’m still awful.

I think a big thing though is that you should have made your /dad/ name different from your dev name so that you separate the stress from being admin from drawing. If you used an alt account that nobody knew was yours, you'd have a lot less pressure and it might help.

I'm more than aware of why I'm not getting better, which is simply not putting enough mileage in (30 mins a day is minimal, even less effective if you're just sporadically drawing a small thing here and there), and periodic hiatuses lasting between two to eight months.

I had a focused track/course I was working through and will put a lot more effort into that once the site is finished.

You'll know when I start to hit the ground running. And I need to. It might add pressure to be the admin of the site, but I must force myself to improve to be able to represent it. I haven't been on that path for a while. I was actually building some decent building blocks as far as fundamentals go (basics of perspective), and that has been on hold ever since I was on the site project since four-six months ago. It's that one Aguri course that's been hovering around, and it's pretty valuable so far.

The two years prior to that was a matter of building up the gall to even draw in the first place, which was helped a lot by LAS.

Doesn't change the fact that I'm frustrated about how shit I am currently, but with proper effort that should change. That comes after I actually push out 1.0.

I will, or at least sort of. Some irl shit really fucked me up on that challenge, and I did not get far enough in the exercises. But instead of doing DaB, I decidet to do Dynamic Sketching, as it is just a better version of DaB or technically DaB is an inferior version of DS.
I never got around doing DS 2, so that should also be interesting. It is going to take a bit before I will start posting exercises from it, seeing as there is lot of similar stuff to DaB in the beginning.

This. Every book about quick learning will tell you to divide a complex skill into many simpler skills and to practice them one by one.

Let's say that you want to sing a song and play it on the guitar at the same time.
The easiest way would be to learn how to play on the guitar (without singing), then to memorize and learn how to sing lyrics (without playing on the guitar) and only then to learn how to combine playing on guitar and singing.

Playing and singing at the same time from the very beginning will only make you frustrated. You are trying to focus on too many things at the same time.

I imagine that it's the same with drawing - focusing on colour theory when you're practising perspective isn't very productive.

Do what works for you.
When you play soccer, you learn things both individually but also integrate them into your play. In Starcraft you aim to better one fundamental when you practice but you use games to practice integrating that fundamental into standard play.
You can grind fundamentals, but if you can't apply it to meaningful work then it's useless.
Let's take anatomy and rendering as an example, you can learn both individually but it's possible that

You're saying if you already know how to play guitar and already know how to sing then you tackle them individually, which I can agree with. However, if you're learning perspective why not also work on line weight? Perspective can also be used with rendering by plotting the cast shadow. No need to stretch and combine color theory and perspective at the beginning, even though that is a good thing to learn later because the atmosphere affects colors at further distances.

I hate this, I try to draw without reference every now and then, spend some time visualizing an image in my head and still can't even get it to paper properly.

I'll try to do it more consistently.
Right now I draw daily but I never have a clear goal in mind which gives me the idea the quality of my art is more hit-or-miss.

So I think I'll do it like this

Also, when I'm on the train I try to draw things I see around the station, it's a nice challenge since nothing stays still long enough, like a cute girl who walks by, the train that rushes past, the birds that always fly away after you decide to draw them.
I try to grasp the general shapes as fast as I can but it's really exhaustive for my brain.
