With the beginning of the next month, I'm gonna draw 33 gestures a day and keep going at it, until I've finished my 1000th gesture drawing.

>> No.3436092

>>3435409
33 a day? Why so little? I can do 20 in 20 minutes.

>> No.3436134

>>3436092
Because without proper study in between gesture drawing sessions I would be just cementing bad habits.
You probably should also balance those quick gestures with normal, longer figure drawing to max your gains.

MrPurin was so cute before she turned out to be a weakling who can't maintain a long streak.

Who said anything about figure drawing? You only said gesture drawing.

Yes, I said that I am going to draw 33 gesture drawings a day, but I didn't said that's all I'm going to draw.
And gesture drawings are closely related to figure drawing, so it makes sense to do both.

These are not gesture drawings, these are blind contour drawings. Or maybe blind gesture drawings. But I hope for your sake you weren't looking at the page when you drew this shit

20-30 minutes a day is an acceptable amount of time to spend on gesture

do you all use that figurines or use any other resources to draw poses?
Is there some page with HD fullbody varied pics without watermarks?

Blowing through many gestures without carefully thinking is a scam to your gains. Don't fall for the /dad/ challenge if you're in it.

If you're going through hampton I recommend watching videos on youtube about gesture from some more well known artists for a better understanding. There's a lot of different opinions and information on what it should be, and hampton doesn't really approach it in a beginner friendly way.

I'm a beginner too and I mostly like what I see, try out different styles of gesture and see what you prefer, just keep doing it. Try to time yourself for one or two minute poses, even if you don't like the result it will help you identify the "flow" of movement faster. And always remember to keep 3D forms in mind.

You'll keep hearing "don't copy contour" but it'll take awhile to actually feel like you can separate contour from rhythm

I personally like vilppu's' method. Feel the movement, contain it, and then use wrapping lines to feel the volume.

Here's a couple of my two minutes, a little sketchy, but i've only been learning gesture for a couple weeks

>> No.3438595

>>3438420
Hampton may have said do them in 1 minute but if you were to take his class he says he literally cannot know if you did a gesture in 1 min since he isn't standing over your shoulder. Take your time and truly try to understand the placement of your line. Speed will come with time.

Tnx for the feedback anon. Didn’t know there were videos from hampton, gonna check that out. I have a lot of trouble with not copying the contour.
