IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

proportions are real fucked up, the face is taller, eyes lack form and eyelids arent really visible, mouth is too big and flat, since you outlined it and didnt think about the form that much. If you look closely you can see that if you use a vertical line form the corners of the mouth in the original picture it touches the middle part of the eye, in your drawing it goes almost to the outer corners of the eye, you already know about the nose and lastly you are missing values, since you're using one for light and one for light, but you should use atleast 3 at minimum, light, dark and middle tones and everything in between comes from blending.

Also do a couple of bargue drawings to learn how to copy something exactly, it will be impossible to symbol draw if you follow the directions.

Damn the reference was so good i had to use it on something, It also looked like satsuki-sama a lot. and im actually kind of ok with the results.
I wish i could do this all from imagination, besides the reference I used the kill la kill sketchbook to reference how satsuki looked too.
I'd like some crits and shits since i can see some serious flaws on both drawings.
for the left mainly the larger torso, unforshortened arm, the whole figure leaning forward and short right leg, clothing out of place or nonexistent are some red flags, and for the right drawing the shitty right hand unforshortened left arm and clothed in a wonky perspective (mainly in the breast/neck area and torso) and the short blade kind of annoys me to look at now
I think i should just draw more.
>>3423503
you're doing yourself a disservice by not posting on the groupdraw thread anon, Old Op gives nice crits and that's the purpose, studying and getting crits not just posting pretty pictures

draw the fundamentals along with what you like, in shorts burst and little by little with small goals like studying an eye and then drawing one from imagination in another angle, stuff like that really works
>>3422878
It feels like its slanted but its because it has no depth or perspective, if you draw a line from the end of the clavicle to the knees the result would be a vertical line, but in the reference its actualy going at an angle, that's because you didnt take perspective in consideration and likely just took measurements. same for the head.
the gesture is also kind of stiff but for the time just focus on getting your perspective on point

I'm not strictly /beg/ but I figure this is a /beg/ relevant question.

I've always had trouble "grounding" standing characters, ie. drawing their legs/feet in the right position so that weight is evenly distributed, they don't look like they're about to fall over etc. without an exact reference of the pose I want. Somehow this is an issue I don't have with sitting poses, action and so on.
Are there any techniques to make it easier to work out?

I tried to do something without references, can you tell me if the anatomy is alright and what should I fix ?

>> No.3424947

>>3424931
Balance is a bit off, draw a vertical line down from the tip of the nose to find where the weight should be, approximately. Remember that the pecs insert into the arm, so the arm should be in front of the torso. The arms are also in a weird position considering the rest of the pose is reasonably neutral. Lats need a bit more definition, right now it looks like she has none. The ear should also be taller; usually the tip of the ear lines up with the eyebrow and the bottom with the nose. Another observation is that you seem to draw most of your lines twice; some places it looks bad (mostly on curves) but it's a minor nitpick.

It's good anon; clearly you have a good idea about proportions and some anatomy. I'd encourage you to try drawing the hands, legs and mouth; you can't get better if you never try. As for suggestions on what to look at next; gesture could be helpful, and also the anatomy that connects the legs to the torso and some arm stuff. Proko is obviously very good for this, but obviously there's others if you search for it.

Jesus Christ was not a hard taskmaster. He understood our little failings, understood the weakness of our poor fallen nature, understood the temptations of this life. We might have had, we all had from time to time, our temptations: we might have, we all had, our failings. But one thing only, he said, he would ask of his hearers. And that was: to be straight and manly with God. If their accounts tallied in every point to say: "Well, I have verified my accounts. I find all well."
But if, as might happen, there were some discrepancies, to admit the truth, to be frank and say like a man: "Well, I have looked into my accounts. I find this wrong and this wrong. But, with God's grace, I will rectify this and this. I will set right my accounts."

I really want to start drawing and painting, but i always thought it was just one of those talents you have to be born with, like singing. I doodled a bit in my childhood, the usual anime stuff and guitars on my school notebooks, but i never though it was something i was good at. Pic related is some of my work, some old, the deer ones are new and the watercolor paintings are at least 5 years old.

I've been super inspired by Frank Frazetta lately and want to give it another go, is there hope?

Very nice effort! I know you didnt ask for it but i couldnt resist to crit you.

The face is very asymetrical. you would have noticed if you fliped the canvas i think.

you do some nice blending. but i think you need to work on the big shapes/planes more before you blend. Its like setting the foundation for the forms and will make it much easier to make blending decisions.

Also some dark accents (and light) would help to make the forms pop a bit. You put these in the occluded parts like in crevasses. it also helps to frame the face more.

And the last thing i would add is to study planes of the face and textiles more, i illustated and example of how values are usually distributed on a face with lighting from above slightly with the help of plane knowledge of the face.
