Nah, I'm not very good at giving tips, and I think my drawing process is pretty bad. Occasionally I get something right from the start, but usually I mess up the proportions and forms, and just grind until it starts to look right.
I based the expression in that picture on episode 16 of Darling in the Franxx, though I didn't directly reference it.

I've very rarely done fanartsy stuff, so I'm actually learning a lot about consistency by having designs to go by, instead of just trying to come up with my own.

1. create an overlay mode layer.
2. fill it with 50/0/0 Lab color ( and image mode is also Lab color )
3. add noise ( i prefer gaussian color noise )
4. set layer opacity to 25% or something.

Yeah, was aware of the size issue, I just wanted to keep that because I liked the height difference, but if it's that bothering then I guess I should change it. I use CSP. I think the brush is one of the default brushes, simply called Colored Pencil, with brush density set to 40%. I use a dark gray instead of black to sketch.

I've been getting this a lot over the past few weeks. I don't know if it's one guy stalking me, or if I've hit some sort of mainstream appeal. Whatever the case, flattery is always encouraging.

I've never really studied anyone. In terms of female characters I have artists that I like (Yusuke Murata, Branch, Kawakami Rokkaku, Hirame, etc), but I never really sat down and tried to copy them.

I've actually been drawing for a long time, but as a result of procrastination, long breaks and an idiotic dedication to not using reference, I've progressed at a much slower pace than I should have. I've also skipped over a lot of basics, as I've rarely sat down and tried to study art books or do exercises, but I've been trying to do more of that over the past year.
Recently I've also started to use more reference and tried to become more consistent in style, particularly when drawing faces, and it's starting to pay off. I still have a case of sameface (I default to Tsurime eyes), but I'm trying to develop more archetypes to work from. Drawing established characters helps a lot, so I don't just revert to my default. My recent attempt at doing comics has also revitalized my motivation for drawing, because it's easier to cut your losses when you don't have to draw the full figure, and can just cut out parts you struggle with by framing it right.
I suck at backgrounds, because I've essentially ignored them, and drawing characters is a lot more fun. That's no excuse, though.

I bought a bunch of Burne Hogarth books many years ago, but I rarely used them. Hogarth is great for learning foreshortening and understanding form, though. Looking at his lines, overlapping forms and exaggerated curves almost flips a switch in the brain.

More or less. I developed my style by bashing my head against the wall, sticking to flawed principles and making every mistake in the book, and it's cost me years of progress.
I still put in a ton of work, particularly in the first few years, when I'd basically spend all my free time filling out A3 sketchbooks before I got my Intuos3. But I worked hard, not smart, and I burned out over time because of how slow the progress was.

I don't quite understand what you think I have to gain by lying about this. The only advice I have to give is to not do what I did.

the soft brushwork on the lighter green sleeves don't add much positive to the illustration. i think it'd work better with more intentionally designed shadows combining harder and soft edges. the tail of her hair looks really flat after leaving the cranium.

To make it look more like the pokemon style exactly, look at screenshots of episodes, color pick and look at how they do shading and lighting.

If you want to make it more your own version of the pokemon style, just do whatever. YOu should still learn some color theory in general though. Look up color psychology and color theory, study color pallettes that you find appealing and try and replicate or do a spin on them. See what works. Rome wasn't built in a day.
