if using the outlines works for you is totally fine but in my case i used the outline in the second drawing just to show what i could see in the silhouette on the left.i am not that good with words so i will try again if in a blob you cant see something in a cool pose or with good details already in just erase little bits of it until you can or erase everything and try again.

for example on the left i can see a huge ship/spaceship in a foreshorted view but on the right cant see jack shit

What >>3412893 said, mostly. In addition, with pixel art there are some things that aren't really conducive to being drawn, at least not without being abstracted away a bit. The chainmail on the two right figures, for instance, just doesn't work, especially not with the darker color on them being that brown shade. Either figure out something else they could be wearing or find a less jarring way of showing that they're wearing chainmail.
There's also a lot more that could be done with what they're wearing; right now it's very blobby and flat, when stuff like cloth folds or different segments of armor could be brought out.
But yeah, what the other guy said; get some more practice in.

I meant more in relation to shading, but if that's what you're doing then you're probably on the right track. When you are shading though, don't use colors that are just darker versions of the object's main color. The window pains and pole for instance could do with having shadows that are slightly more blue. You get more for less that way, which is really good for pixel art.

If you don't already have anything particular in mind I'm working on something with another artist right now and our would-be programmer had to bow out due to personal problems, the only caveat is that, while pixel art will be featured in certain scenarios, the game will mostly be traditionally animated and animated through programmed physics behaviours, so it depends on how dead set you are that it be a pixel art game.

If you want to talk about it email me

I'm as slow as ever. I've narrowed it down between the top and center one.

Pixel art has a lot in common with painting. Mostly form based fundamentals. Study form, light and shadow. Clusters is just using blobs of color to describe from. Don't stop studying the fundamentals and trying to apply them. Rocks and basic shapes make for good practice.

This video is a good introduction.

After you figure out how to describe the form, the rest is just cleaning the blobs the same way you clean lines.

So I've never seen any pixel art communities talk about this.
Artifacting, was a big deal for some older machines but modern pixel art neglects it completely, why tho?
Pic related is an example of what can you archive if you do it right.
