I think he's well aware of the range of motion bodies have, he just doesn't care. He'd rather put style over the functionality of his pieces. If he made everything anatomically correct or within more realistic boundaries, the art probably wouldn't have the same feeling to it. It's also probably why he's a mangaka and not an animator.

I'm a huge fan of Araki's works. His artstyle is fantastic and unique. I do however know that his anatomy is unrealistic and pretty bad in general. It doesn't ruin my admiration of him though, I'd like to be as based as him someday.
