so ive been using this dinky wacom tablet for like 4 years now and i think i want to upgrade. i looked on amazon and saw these were decently priced tablets and the reviews online seem to say they're pretty good too. though i'm not sure how many video reviews i can trust since 90% of them are sponsored or had the company send them one to review.

all that background crap aside, for anybody who owns one do you recommend them? are they worth the investment? i guess i just need to assurance or warning before pulling the trigger

before anybody tries, i know damn well they will not automatically improve my skills (i'm not looking for that), i just want to upgrade from my old dusty ass drawing tablet

The XP-pen artist16 PRO has 92% adobe RGB coverage and 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity, but it still has some parallax, which is the distance between the pen-tip and the cursor when drawing. This pen display is 15.6 inches. If you want a bigger size screen, the only one available is their older 22-inch models with 2048 levels of pressure and most likely a lower adobe RGB coverage. XP-pen will release a newer version of their 22-inch pen-display, probably with 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity and higher adobe RGB coverage in around a month. Hopefully they also reduced the parallax.

anyone has a real use case for 8k pressure levels vs 1k?

also, does it make sense investing in a bigger screen tablet if i already own a huge non screen one?

which brand/size does the real pros use?

I was looking for a very small screen tablet that would work with the kind of pen where you could use wire or spaghetti as nibs. Do you have any recommendations?

>> No.3415442

>>3415424
Just buy official nibs, theyre less than $10 in most cases and wont fuck up your screen or look ratchet as fuck

but the sticky said it would be okay?
yeah, I'm cool with super small and cramped, but I need that screen or else it's going to feel like drawing on a laptop touchpad

If your type of work can be done on a 10-inch model, then get the 10-inch model. Don't get the size of the pen-display based on budget, but on whether it works for your type of work or workflow. If you're serious about drawing, spend an extra hundred or so dollars.

From what I heard, pressure levels are just a meme. If you absolutely don't care about adobe RGB coverage and can't wait for the new XP-pen 22 inch for whatever reason, then get the current one with 2048 levels or pressure sensitivity. Higher levels of pressure sensitivity is just an added bonus. The other plus of waiting for the newer version most likely means you will be buying the one with updated technology, such as improvements on what the company did wrong in the past models.

>also, does it make sense investing in a bigger screen tablet if i already own a huge non screen one?

Pen display is probably where you want a bigger screen size since there will be other things on the screen other than the canvas, and drawing tablet without the screen is the one where you should just have got a medium.

>which brand/size does the real pros use?

Mostly Wacom, but that's because they had a monopoly on the pen-display and drawing tablets for a while. Buy from the smaller guys to increase competition. Brand shouldn't matter for drawing but would indirectly matter for quality. Right now I hear a lot of good things about XP-pen from my research. I especially like the 92% adobe RGB coverage they are aiming for. Their Amazon reveals don't do as well, but there are a lot of shill reviews. You can tell how active these new drawing tablet brands like Huion or XP-pen are on social media by how many of their models are being sent to be reviewed by youtubers. I would imagine some of them may be shilling Amazon reviews as well, against the competition or for their own product. So don't just read Amazon reviews for this, try to find an unbiased source for the review.

Have the xp-pen 16HD and the older model. As I got mad when I bought the first version only to see them release a better updated one. But whatever, its cheap and its well made. Can't do that with wacom trash.

I was worried about "bias" paid shills like huon or however its spelled. And I used wacom and felt it was over priced trash and certainly not the best. But I was unsure.

I paid only 399 for the original 16 inch and 479 for the new one. I use both daily. The shitter screen one I do line work and such on. The better color one for coloring. So no need for a monitor to check colors at least.

I'd recommend. I'm not saying you could get screwed over. Sure you could. Anything "no matter how expensive" or whose on the label doesn't = 100% flawless and such.

Just give them a chance, if you do that and it works out. Great less money same tools. Doesn't work out, you can easily try other brands or try your luck again with it or any other.

That's what returns are for. Good luck.

>If you're serious about drawing, spend an extra hundred or so dollars.
i do it as a hobby but also i do take it somewhat seriously
but spending $100-$160 for the 13 inch or 15 inch is super out of my budget at the moment

while it's true what you say i don't think i can. if it was just me, and i had no other responsibilities or expenses to worry about then i'd go for it but fuck

but thanks dude, maybe the best thing to do is wait a bit and then maybe i could manage to squeeze enough to buy a bigger model at a later date

>Pen display is where you want a bigger screen >tablet without screen is where you should just have a medium

This. I also understand the consensus is that screen tablet is better for detailed linework, while non screen one is best for painting and general graphic art.
