Since most of you are obviously shit, either mechanically or socially/networking, and you all just want to be illustrators and draw shit for other people anyways, why don't you look for partnerships with people to draw their comics/books?

Is a nice way of grinding/training, takes you out of your comfort zone, you build a following/network and if you are fucking super lucky it may even blown out.

I know most of the posters are cucked armchair critics who just shitpost, but for the 1% who aren't useless fucks reading this, just do something productive with your time nigga.

I had a coworker years back who said she did a comic strip in high school. She was plus-sized but I liked her and her sister, she acted in the local community theater plays and was into movies as well. There's always some stupid thing that pisses me off about someone though, I think in this case right when I was ready to make her a friend she said something about her church that just rubbed me the wrong way. I felt like I wouldn't be able to get her to switch denominations so I just left her alone. Anyway she couldn't draw and she didn't seem especially funny, but she could've brought her experience from acting onstage into my art. That could've been really interesting.

Agree with you, but the problem is, where to find those people? All my "internet friends" now only care about waifu/pornshit and my actual friends don't have creativity for nothing
A year ago I was working in a short comedy comic with a internet friend I was very close and actually considered a personal friend, sadly he passed away 6 months ago and only now I'm going back to drawing again

This is actually tougher than it sounds. even the people I do come into contact with eventually go AWOL because everyone already has their own projects which is a shame. I'd be down for making art assesst for a game, pixel art stuff. The problem is any higher level programming will probably require a programmer and they're usually employed. I suppose I could just work with other artists and keep the game a simple arcade style thing until more people are on board but with more artists you could probably do animation. People don't like working for free though so I'm stuck doing commissions until I can shovel money at someone.

How many "word bubbles" does an average comic page have-particularly an amateur effort? Even if it takes you 10 minutes to draw an entire page (which it wouldn't if you gave a rat's ass about your work and what you're putting your name on) you're still running a time deficit with the amateur "writer". It's an inherently exploitative relationship and anyone that engages with it is stupid as shit, period.

If you don't have your own ideas and goals with your art than why are you an artist to begin with?-and if you became an artist because you wanted to draw a certain special interest subject irrespective of that than why would you stop that to draw someone else's special interest subject on someone else's behalf? It just doesn't make sense. No offense.

But you of course had derail the thread for no reason, since you aren't even an artist, you are just a shitter with nothing better to do.

But here you go, a page I am working on at this moment, even tho I don't need to prove your cancerous ass anything.

>>3396648
Its your opinion how you see what an artist is for you, for some other people like myself, I enjoy working with someone after spending years doing art by myself to get a few likes on twitter.

Telling people to simply never draw to anyone but themselves directly is just a bad advice and huge projection from you. Very few people have the talent to be writers and illustrators at the same time.

I just posted this to encourage people to get somewhere if they are stuck in their life as an artist, and somehow most posts are shitposts from people who never even draw but somehow get butthurt with the idea of ''''''''''''''''''''''wasting''''''''''''''''' their '''''''''''''''''''''''''''talent''''''''''''''''''''''' by getting outta their ass and actually producing something.

Anyways I'm fucking out. Enjoy doodling mindless shit for the rest of your existence if that's what being an artist is for you.

OP, I'll tell you this. If you want to draw something for someone else for free, then that's fine. Drawthreads are full of people who donate their time just because they can. And drawing is always better than not drawing. But it's no substitute for focused training. And some people here put tons of heart and soul into what they draw, so calling them casuals, or saying that they should devote their time to drawing what other people want, for free? That's not nice.

This right here is exactly what idea scum think of artists in general. Anything an artist does themselves is "doodling mindless shit" until an idea guy has the magnanimity to show up with their wonderful ideas; artist merely exists for their convenience so long as they can keep the charade of flattery up. wew.

If you want to make it, the secret none of you have learned yet is that you need to leave /ic/. This is one of maybe six posts I’ve made here in five years. In 2013 anything I posted here was the butt of people’s jokes, now I work on movies. I doubt many people here will want to hear this but /ic/ and its toxic crab-filled environment is actively holding you down. Come here to pirate materials from the artbook thread, and browse no further. Find decent Discord and Hangout communities, and move on from there.

Huh, that's strange. For someone who's only been here 6 times in the last 5 years, you're awfully familiar with the crab meme, which definitely hasn't been around back in 2013. It's also not exactly a meme that's usually being posted in the art book thread, so something doesn't add up.
