anyway as for actual critique. i think you really fucked the picture up, if i recall the early version had a sympathetic soft light, this on the other hand is hard and ugly, and bulbous and vague.

if this is your usual method, next time stop at about the stage of your earlier wip and consider the value structure and lighting effects you've already created and get a clear idea of how you'll keep that going as you apply more modelling and textures and what not. in effect your picture is now it's own reference, and you should apply those analytical skills all over again.

Mouth and nose are too low. Gead shape makes it look like a furry with a muzzle so need to pull in the mouth.

Humans have eyes on the front of their faces on a relatively flat plane. Your eyes are too far back and showing too much for a profile view.

There's some really nice color and rendering here but the drawing itself has a lot of problems. Biggest issue is the proportions are all over the place. The head is too small, torso too long, legs way too long, and feet are tiny. The head looks deformed and I think it's mostly because the ear is too high but also the back of the hair forms a tangent with the ear and jaw that makes it hard to tell what shape the jaw is. With that unclear the head loses a lot of shape definition. The muscles connecting the raised arm to the chest are wrapped wrong or at least look that way because the light should be hitting more of the top of the shoulder than that. The shadow makes it look like another plane but it should be a continuous plane with a thin strip of shadow along the top edge.
Lastly this is sort of nitpicking but it'd be nice to see more hard edges. The legs have a good balance of hard and soft, everything else is mostly soft and looks blurry in comparison.

I wanted to post this so people can pretend to reply to it.

Lighting is really all over the place. Most is a frontal right light, but the arm on the left is almost entirely in the torso's cast shadow even though the light's angle would mean that wouldn't hit the forearm at all. The hand on the left's first phalanges somehow brighter than the second. And I have literally no idea what's going on the the middle finger on the right, it's completely black but is also making a contradicting shadow as if the light is coming from above.

Oh, so your light is actually coming from a frontal upper right, not a frontal hard right.
The arm's cast shadow on the breast needs to be more slanted if you want it to match the rest of the lighting. The shadow would actually be more on her sternum and somewhat over the breast on the left instead of just over the breast on the right.
But it honestly doesn't matter for the most part, this is good.

I see plenty of genuine critique happening here and in other threads. I've given some myself. The fact that the critique givers are actually sticking to critique instead of padding out a bunch of unhelpful vagaries with a bunch more unhelpful insults and ridicule is far more preferable to me. This place is a place for people who are learning, not for a bunch of advanced pros to show off and circle jerk. If you want to see that kind of thing go to artstation, drawcrowd, or any number of facebook art groups, namely the ones that have daily/weekly/monthly challenges. There you will see pros pushing pros to get better. Here is not that. It serves its own purpose, just like grade schools exist to get kids ready for high school and high schools prep them for college. If you want college go there instead of complaining the high school isn't one.

I am not even that good, not professional quality and lord knows I make mistakes. I stopped coming here because I was getting zero reponse when I posted finished work.

It feels like I have either hit the apex of when this place can offer me or as I have been told 'its not bad its just not good.' I have been trying lately to give more advice and would love it if you guys could do the same.

Actually does not look fine.

Take like 10 seconds before doing any line work on a drawing and just trace the outline then look at it for another 2. If you do this youll notice you havent looked at anything related to anatomy in your entire life or so the drawing shows.

You tried to imitate the standard 3/4 anime head look then drew a face on top of it so now its squished and at the bottom of this copy pasted head sketch because you don't know how or where the face fits on properly. If you wanna imitate an artist don't start with cheap anime because its drawn in that fashion to save money for facial animations. Increase your mental library or just look up any books on facial construction because trust me they use that to make anime faces too.

Her body is shit. Like literal shit.

I could go on about proportions or things like that but seriously my best advice is draw her naked then give her clothes later because i don't know if you are trying to use clothes to cover up muscle features and misunderstandings or something but you failed pretty badly.

Her shoulders are poorly drawn no anatomy her right breast was not affected by the poorly done shoulder posture which all lead down to some poorly placed bellybutton that does not follow the bodies center line coming down to contact with two completely different sized legs.

Look at her arms. i mean cmon man. We once more see you copying standard anime hand poses then connecting body parts onto them hoping to cover up the poor understanding you have over the human body.

Overall not bad keep at it at least you know how to look at stuff and copy it. That alone will get you places. keep up the work and you'll get better. Its harder to make your own poses and desu this one is one of the more difficult ones for people to get 3/4 on the body is just weird.

Alright so from the top down lets get started.

The bunny ears alone somehow indicate a good use of form and shading. Then they attach to a wonky ass headband that you know is not put in place properly. Its coming from an upwards perspective at a very very sharp angle downwards whereas from that position on her head you pretty much should have made it flat if the entire rest of the picture is to go by.

That is some 5head you got going on there man. but once again people love to take animu faces and just plaster on a face somewhere near the bottom and suddenly the character is looking down. psa not how faces work the skull moves too.

Same advice to the guy below if you wanna fix this problem you need to look up facial relationships and seriously loomis does a good job at very basic facial construction if you look at one of his tutorials even just skim over it and it'll help you draw facial lines which can help you figure out how to make a head facing a direction and where to put the face on afterwords.

That neck is too skinny. Like i know anime girls have skinny necks and all. But damn thats a skinny neck. Also the neck doesn't have to connect over to the ear like you are doing. I mean it does anatomically but look at a few faces depending on the way the head is facing the neck is usually covered up by the jawbone feel free to not forcefully bulge it out?

I mean thats some nice copy pasta animu shoulders. they're wide af but believe it or not most people would get away with that sort of stylization.

However even if you cant draw hands you gotta draw arms. You drew shoulders, a head and a neck then connected them all randomly. knowing how to connect pieces in a realistic manner is just as important as drawing the pieces themselves best way to get better is gesture drawing. do a lot more of that and i'm sure it'll help out.

Try not to get too swirly with the line art it may look fancy and tumblerish but if you are rendering out pictures with color its a distraction and will lead you astray.

also keep the outlines thicker and the inner lines thinner its really distracting to have such thick lines at random places. place those things like you give a damn.

draw a thumbnail sketch of the full posture before detailing in. I know you wanna keep on drawing more and more onto the original but draw the whole thing out then render.

flat tones and hard brushes over using soft brushes. soft brushes look like mush unless you are going for the full on painted look rather than the filled in the lines look.

There are times I do trace but it's only for like... meditation reasons. Even then, It's not like I can't do it legit anyways. A lot of times I'll do extremely quick draw overs to make fast thumbnails and compositions and then just redraw them normally.

The paintings posted in here are legit. I painted all of them, the hardway. There is another photo I used for ref, one of melissa clarke for the lips and eyes but I couldn't find it. The photos of flowers are my own.

I would hire models but I am poor. To get around that, I normally combine 3-4 photos of different girls in order to create a "new" person. Aspects of light, color, structure, eye/nose/lip types, and different hair styles.

So yeah, you just jelly.
