Still new to the digital world. This was a fast sketch to warm up and I thought it turned out quite neat and dynamic.

>>3376346
I liked that, it's spacious and vivid at the same time. Pretty cool. Only thing I'd say is that the light from the background is kinda over-exposed and a bit tiring to the eye. Also, along with that much blur on the borders it looks a bit to evanescent to the scene.

>>3376354
Generally cool, the shadows on the shirt are slightly overdone, I think. It makes the whole look too heavy and dense. I would keep the general shadow layout, but fade those heavier shadows a bit, keeping that shade to the edges, but tone them down and blend better with the blue in the parts near the center.

When a crab's flaws are discovered, his fight or flight instincts are triggered, he either goes on the defensive and attempts to create an excuse for the bad quality of his artwork, or attacks the opponent with the phrases "post your work", "can you do better", and "i'm better than you" or one of their many variations.
This though, is only a mere attempt at distraction from his own failings, the crab knows the only thing left for him is to escape until he is forgotten about and return to posting a few days later without learning anything, and to continue the cycle.

Decent start but I can pinpoint your primary problem at a glance; you're visualising shapes in terms of outline, not form. A lot of this is down to inexperience, most of it is down to anatomical ignorance and a poor grasp on perspective. Hands are notoriously tricky to master anyway on account of them being effectively 5 independently dexterous limbs attached to a trunk.

You bought any books yet? I recommend Bridgman, Constructive Anatomy. You ought to study construction first in general, it'll save you a world of pain in the future if you pack it away now whilst you're still new.

that's fair. i was thinking of putting some type of light circles around the humans hands, mirroring the color of the skeletons eyes. as in he's controlling it, but the reaching hand of the monsters makes it unclear whether it's working.

i was more wondering if there's anything in terms of rendering i can last minute fix.
i was trying to push the light on the skeleton more, but it never looks quite right with it's colors.

They look really good for the most part. The tricky part of doing lighting is when you have objects with different local values, like clothes for instance. I think you'll really start sussing out weak spots if you move on to trying things like that. Also a little trick that tends to make shadow areas look nicer is actually having the darkest part of the shadow be right near the terminator (the line where the shadow area meets a lit area) and have the main part of the shadow be a bit lighter. This is because there's often a fill or bounce light that shines a little bit of light even into shadowed areas. Occlusion shadows (places like creases or an object casting a shadow that's really close to the one it's casting a shadow on) should still be darkest over all. If you go for chiaroscuro you can eliminate fill light.
Good stuff though and good luck.

well because the torso is so oblong it isn't as easy to tell if the arms are too long. the wrists should roughly line up with the bottom of the pelvis. the leg closest to the viewer is definitely off

I don't even know why I'm doing this anymore. I've actually moved on to other things but I just had to finish this so I can put him in my shitty portfolio.

You're right man and that's a good overpaint. I think the shitty hairnet effect was because I just threw a lazy color dodge on her whole head at the end which killed all the shadows and 3dimensionality up there. Should've done that stuff individually for each lock.

>>3384138

You're probably right too. Especially about the wrinkles and shit. I had to go with a certain art style for the rest of the proportions though.
