Not op. I don't know what his life is and I don't assume anything. I don't know what he is going through.

That being said, I work full time and found his post relatable as I have done the same thing. But, once I took the pressure off myself and made it a hobby, I found myself drawing more, and less stressfully. Putting the burden on myself that I'm either going to make it or not burned me out because I would get into my own head so much. I found I ended up prioritizing thinking about drawing than actually drawing, because everything revovled around the end goal and not the journey of getting there.

this probably sounds pretentious, but i think the brains of creative types struggle with this kind of lifestyle. theyre kinda hardwired to make shit and dont have the time to functioin. its crazy how much my mood improves on days that i get a decent amount of my own art time in.
>>3375463
ive tried this way of thinking for a while and ended up slacking off more than usual. i never got any major pieces done and i could see my fundamental skills fading away.
its also a very hard mindset to adopt with deadlines. i table at artists alleys and im desperately trying to push out some new merch.

Long hours of Mindless and repetitive work tends to be tiring, especially if you don't enjoy it. Which not only can it be physically exhausting but mentally too since it more than likely causes stress in one's life, and you have to find ways to keep yourself entertained too. And if you have a job dealing with clients then you'll probably be exhausted from having to deal with other people's shit. Even though the task at hand seems easy, they come with their complications. Then there's also the fact a person could have shitty coworkers or bosses.

the job is pretty basic though. its a warehouse job that requires little to no thinking. just constant scanning and moving of boxes. thing is its the best paying job ive ever had but it still only brings in about $500 biweekly.

Yes. Its hard to work a normal job and then still try and be creative when you are mentally stressed out and your body just wants to sleep.
OP, I dont know for how long you had this job now but if you continue for a while perhaps you will get used to it. Find and keep your creative drive again and use it as a motivation to work. When you are used to your job it might get a little less stressing.

>tfw art and financial stability can never coexist

I'm not going to pretend there's some grand secret that you somehow missed, anon, and that everybody else is in on it without you. That'd be disingenuous to you and anybody else paying attention in this thread.

It comes down to how you motivate yourself and how much you value your time and the things you produce. You like your job, you are proud of making quality product there at your place of employment? Unless you are actually a real professional artist (and thus your art *is* your job), chances are your art is going to suffer in exchange for your concentrating on your work.

Ask the guys over at /fit/. No, on second thought, maybe that's *not* a good idea. But I was going to say the same thing applies for getting and staying in shape. There's no magic way to strengthen and tone your body and get in all the cardio a healthy adult body needs while you simultaneously binge-watch all seven seasons of Game of Thrones. The two objectives are mutually exclusive.

Line up your priorities and knock them down - one at a time if you have to. If you feel you need to find a better job that allows you to mix the things you want to do in your life, make finding a better job one of those priorities.
