Maybe it was a bit of both? I currently have 5 artists on commission and it's been an issue with 2 of the 5. Actually now I have 4 because the guy from my OP quit on me, ironically he was also my favorite out of the 5 artist. So I lost my stud.

I had asked him if he needed a break, if he was feeling burnt out from my commissions, that he could go do his own thing, work on other stuff for a while and then come back and i would have work for him again. He said he was fine, but clearly it looked like he wasn't being honest with me.

I thought I was good to him. I had consistent steady work for him and i NEVER rushed him on any commissions. So idk. I'm scared now to ask my other artists to fix and edit things now, this all happened like a month and a half ago.

It really depends on the kind of edits you requested imo. Usually any professional artist that isn't an idiot or an asshole, will be down to changes. But sometimes they might not see eye to eye with the client, because they think their original vision is better. I had some experiences of that kind with my clients.

Can you be a bit more specific about what you requested and maybe post a low res of the sketch?

Also, no artist wants to work for a art director kind of client. They are usually failed artists that want to use others as a tool for achieving something they alone are incapable of. Artists want to draw, not fix broken egos.

Indifferent. Are you stupid enough to think you learning to draw would put you in the position to replace 4-5 others? If they're working freelance they know the score anyway. nice way of generalizing. well to be honest, charging for edits makes sense. i include one or two minor edits per drawing in my offer, but any edits beyond that or complete changes either cost half or total the price of a new drawing, depending on the effort and time it takes.
