I picked specifically this one because it is so archetypical of the wasteland soldier, which I think is the genre where he's top.
And I don't think it looks especially generic either, more like classic. The colors are fantastic.
Tbh, I'm not even sure it's his, I believe the images on his site are just all from their studio, not specified who did what, guess it is though.

This is not good design. This is a retard with no real life experience aping something like Mad Max, which based all of its clothes and cars on working models and ex military stuff.
This is why you do primary research when designing something. For example, why wouldn't the faceplate cover the ears? A simple visit to any museum would show you that any face armour a) wouldn't deflect the richochet INTO the centre of the face b) would protect the ears and top of skull (this isn't paintball, I assume) and c) would have at least basic eye and nose protection

Mad Max, a fantasy film for fans of action, ludicrous characters etc, still treats its fans with more respect than this "artist" - the cars might be outrageous gas guzzlers, the outfits might be autistic tribal steampunk fetishwear, but at least everything is conceivable, the action realistic (often actually real) and so the suspension of disbelief works really well, and like >>3270091 said, everyone remembers the Mad Max cars, characters and costumes whilst no one outside of the industry and "modern art directors" who are the ones encouraging this mediocre bullshit art, no one knows, remembers or cares about this guy. Not really. At least a generic soldier does his job serviceable. Sonic designs are known for being bad for animation, body lenguage and facial expressions, and comunication wise they are as close as you can get to just recolors. Usability is far more important than memorability.
The people at Sega just have to stick with them because of them being already stablished and the fans being autistic.

When I learned about the color fields I personally understood it. I really like Rothko’s paintings, they do embody the primal simplicity of specific emotions to me. Like the one posted reminding me of a sort of compressed anger and stress, like a tiny wad of skin being pinched, but instead of being clipped off, it just slips out of whatever is pinching it. I don’t think his paintings should be worth millions, but I really do get it. I’ve been trying to represent raw human emotion in humanizations of emotions like anger and love, but I’ve honestly done so to no avail. I only kind of get there.
