Just don't use /ic/ to stroke your ego or as your social media site. Post something that took you a while and specify your problem, like "I'm unsure about X" or "how would you do X".

Also giving a mindful crit to one or two other posters raises your chances, 'cause people see you help the community instead of just mining for resources.

glad i could help and danke! i'd actually love a redline if you don't mind/you've returned to your tablet/you have the time, i struggle a lot with symmetry, and also a bit anatomy wise when it comes to big buff arms facing towards the viewer so it's just mostly bicep, like i get lost with how much of the other muscle masses to show, i think i might know how to fix the feet tho but i'm not perfect at those either an would love the feedback nwn

Looks like you were trying to go for a rough, hatched look. However, it looks like you were going for a mix of cross hatching and basket hatching (I don't know the official name of the latter), which gives the impression that your drawing is very unrefined. If you're going for that hatching shading style, it's best to stick with one kind.

Hey anon, don't be mean.

>>3251212
I'm still occupied with family reunions and such, but you're just too nice to ignore. Have a touchpad redline.

>The main idea
is to vary things up a bit. Draw only one side of the form and then think about what could compliment it on the other, usually C curves for flexes and S curves for stretches. You can also vary things up by giving opposing curves different lengths or apexes.
>Straights
can give structure, show bone or make a curve look extra curvier by contrast.
They also stop the eye movement, so they look good on joints or feet.
Straights are super powerful, so use them sparingly.

>Feet
are lots of fun. They taper a lot, so whenever I notice I'm drawing symmetry of any kind, I know I'll end up with an ugly sausage for a foot.
Notice lots of straights where the foot touches the ground, lots of flow on the other side, this helps sell the idea that he's standing firm.

Good luck anon and remember to have fun.

I really love the way you do poses, but the back of the right hand looks like it has a tumor. Clean up those lines. Also the right leg just looks out of proportion, especially since it looks like the lower half looks like it's going perpendicular to the ground for some reason even though I know you're not going for that.

The armor looks a bit thin and weak, I'd make it thicker in that part where you can see the edge of it and go for bigger, bolder and more jagged shapes for the broken and cracked parts. Your brain keeps telling you feet are supposed to be smol, it keeps forcing you to flatten the whole thing.
You have to bridge that gap, observational drawing isn't a bad start, measure the angles and proportions, overlay the reference if you need to, just get the foreshortening right.
Your brain will think "this is wrong, this is wrong.." but at the end it'll look right, so it will succumb.
Construct the figure with cylinders, look at Krenz's studies for ref. The more you do it, the more you overcome that fear.

quickfix would be to either make her shoulders less wide and perhaps try to rotate the left shoulder a little bit backwards to fit the rotation and size of her wait , or to give her a wider waist (more pronounced obliques).

besides that, one last thing i notice (though i might be wrong on this) is the right forearm.
it seems to travel too far up the arm and make direct contact with the bicep. normally theres a little space between the bicep and the elbow crease before the muscle of the forearm starts.

I think most hatching is done with a Nikko nib, whereas they use a G-Pen nib for most outlines. Western artists use brushes much more often I think. Mangaka mainly use brushes for hair, is that right? And it's a fine brush as I understand it.

If you use those kinds of tools early on as a way to compensate for an important fundamental skill like drawing confident lines, you're only going to hurt yourself in the future. If you lack line confidence and never work on it, chances are you won't be able to find drawing too enjoyable in the future. I don't really know any big time artist out there outside of those that do vector work that use the pen tool simply because you can accomplish the same thing with better ease with the brush tool.

I'm gonna sound like one of those /ic/ shitters, but this is some insane symbol drawing you have here. You're trying to attempt shading on a figure that's heavily stylized, and it looks like you're struggling with understanding the form of the face and hair. Take a step back and see if you can do some studies on human faces. If you really want to get into the whole anime drawing stuff, you can also do some studies of whatever style you want to achieve, but I do recommend getting a decent grasp of realism first. The body looks relatively alright for what it's worth.

Pic related is a good guideline to go by.

For one, in the OP image I think it's best to avoid anything that looks like underaged and sexualized. Obviously I don't know for sure but I know that kind of stuff has come up in the threads a lot and maybe the mods are actually cracking down on it now. My other suggestion is to call it something different, maybe even avoiding the word anime. Maybe something like Eastern Stylization Analysis and Exercises or Style Study or something. If things don't work out after this though, I'm considering opening a thread on /qa/ or something to either talk about why this bullshit keeps happening or fuck it, to have the damn thread over there or something.
