in nepal, where i lived for a while, they have two periods of sleep, a long one at night and a siesta kinda deal in the afternoon. you get up at 5am and go to bed at 12am and you only sleep for like an hour in the afternoon, never felt tired or anything. i feel like that's the natural and best way to sleep, like i never felt better.

Unlike art, Newton/Socrates's contributions are much easier to quantify. Their work served as definable building blocks for their respective fields.

Meanwhile when you look at an old painting, you don't see the forerunner's attempts at foreshortening or perspective. The old masters didn't have concepts of vanishing points and fundies like we do, most of them just tried to figure out the rules as they went and it shows. So people look at the latest anime art, the culmination of centuries of experimentation and technique refinement, and attribute all the success to the modern artist.
