How do I paint like this? and don't just tell me "generic chinese over-render fuuu", seriously how do I paint like this in particular? the artist is called a variety of names from "Elda-qd" to "allure of the night" in chinese. All I know is that she's very inactive, has about 20 pieces in total going back to 2011 and hasn't shown any signs of life for over a year on any of her accounts. so it's impossible to find info on her process.

it's just a painting like any other, what kind of answer are you expecting? like a detailed guide or what. what do you even want to emulate in the picture, just being able to do a pretty girl, doing materials, the lighting, what

You would have to live in China to come up with decorations like these / draw these details.

Live in the US? You're out of luck, cause all you got is hoodies and sweatpants.

All these decorations not even chinese

Is that even relevant? This is Chinese-quality draftsmanship. Either you have the talent or you don't.

Do you actually think this is how modern chinese people dress? Chinese artists look these details up just like everyone else does, on google images.

everything that is the style. the texture brushwork, dynamic lighting, how the materials are rendered, weird color use (i notice the chinese like to put colors where they don't belong, like aqua blue in the inner eye, purple on her arm, red in her nostrils, or orange on her chest). idk man, i know there's some chinese secrets to this shit.

Learn color theory and rendering. Other than that it looks stale and lifeless.

Texture is just learning how to use different edges of paint. Dynamic lighting is just an extension of basic lighting. Material rendering is referenced based. Colors aren't all that weird in terms of the medium, maybe weird to life, but those colors are fairly normal, it just has to do with cools and warms. It's not Chinese secrets, it's just the fundamentals like /ic/ always says. You now better be thankful and work hard to recreate this level of work or this was all for nothing.

There are still Chinese in America who wear these things.

Just study it mang. Hair is an ink brush.
Her clothes are done in a style that reminds me of renaissance paintings. Face is pretty standard anime realism.

Its literally just a renaissance-esque painterly style with chinese subject matter.

standard anime realism? bitch where the fuck is that standard cause when I think of anime I definitely don't see that.

By anime realism I mean when an artist puts anime facial proportions in an otherwise realistic leaning painting.

What is it about the style that you want to replicate? If its the faces just practice painting korean idols but make their eyes bigger

wasn't op but I do want a style similar to that. And the reason I'd want to replicate the style is cause I like how it looks. Looks beautiful for the most part. Their might be more visually interesting styles and stuff but I just want my style to reflect the things I like. And yeah korean idols as ref is good but it hard to get good refs since they like to use a lot of direct lighting and it makes the shading really hard to see. atleast for me.

Yeah I can see that being a problem, /mu/ has a k-pop general going at all times and its pretty active. You might be able to find at least a few there.

oh thanks for the heads up.
Also got that artists name? reverse image searched and Yuxiang Chen but doesn't seem to be the right artist. Styles look different and this wasn't on their artstation.
