For the first time since LAS started I’m going to take a break, I’ll probably go back to draw daily the moment they make another website but for now I’m going to rest. Most of the days I was drawing just for the sake of the streak and you can tell since the drawings are shit. That’s no way to improve.

I lasted 707 days and I ended up in the top 10 of week1 when old LAS died, I’ve accomplished huge things thanks to this and I’m happy, now I have to improve my art more efficiently. Thank you all.

In my timezone i usually start drawing at 22:00 and draw 3+ hours. I draw every day, but usually it's my own stuff and i am not trying to lear anything new. I should step up my practising, but IRL + motivation fucks things up.

it feels a bit split, since there's the threads, the (now dead) website, and the discord. i kind of wish everyone was in one place.
the comment system on the site worked fine, but i think something could be done to encourage commenting and conversation. i dunno what though. w had added those icons to indicate that a picture had been commented on, i think that was good. maybe a box on the front page showing the most recent comments could be a good little feature... i have no idea though honestly.

Then a way to expose those who put in a lot of effort and not just those with the highest streak, to not overwhelm those who will always feel left out because they didn't join in time.
A weekly or monthly summary of successful lassies would be nice and even give new lassies a chance, maybe with some sort of medal system.
I really liked drawing.today, commenting on posts is nice but other than that I'm also a supporter of keeping this simple as possible.

I didn't really hate Lava, at least not for being a webmaster although I was annoyed by his shitty cocky attitude and opinions. He had serious medical issues so even if I would've preferred updates on his abandonment of the site, his leaving was ultimately understandable. I joined kind of late, wish I had the courage to join when it started. I did around a 100 days in las, and 60+ days in drawing.today.

It massively helped me to get my shit together, keep a schedule, start my art blogs and get followers.

Had a ton of fun with challenges like the husbando challenge, watching everyone improve, the bants and shitposts, it was something to look forward to every day.

It was the best thing I experienced during my years on /ic/.

Honestly? It helped me stay focused and keep pushing even when I want to give up. Improved faster than I expected. But in another hand it's another group I'll never fit in. Doesn't matter if I joined too late or not, I'm not likeable even on internet. I really need to find an online community I can fit in.

What are your guys' goals with art again? The whole fall of las thing is making me reflect on my decision to pursue art. I originally wanted to do comics and animation but now idk what I wanna do. The comic industry in the states is 99% cape shit and most adults look down on it. Animation is also immature here and you usually need a big group of people behind you to make anything with real substance and beauty to it. May as well give up. I still have the drawing bug in me to doodle but my goals are essentially shattered.

Hey thanks man.
I did use refs but I didn't try to copy the images, I constructed the shapes with the refs as a guide, so they aren't exactly the same as the refs I used.
Reason for doing it like this is because I want to understand the shapes and hopefully make it easier to draw and design them without relying too much on references, hopefully it works out.

As for the paper, it's toned paper I bought at an art supplies store which I draw on with pencil and a white pastel pencil for highlighting, it was a bit expensive but afterwards a worthwhile investment.
I really enjoy drawing on darker paper, it adds a lot of depth to your drawings when you add the highlights.

Though I am still not confident enough to draw bigger, probably one of my biggest flaws is that I keep making stamp-sized drawings.

masque do you physically paint? you are really good at colors and values without literally copying from the reference. im practicing copying photos but i feel like im missing something. I've heard that the way you learn colors is by making value charts with physical paint.

Do you take the time to choose your pallet before you start? or do you just pick colors as you go?

I don't physically paint, and I just pick colors as I go. I also mostly use the RGB sliders instead of color picker/HSV.
Speaking of, I'm actually having a lot of trouble trying to design colors for this picture...
