Rate my art, /ic/

I am a major lurker in all the interwebs, so i lurked a little here and saw you guys don't like fan art very much.

So i tried to start designing things, and the result was that i stopped drawing altogether.

Now i went bak to what i love, fan-arting

But anyways, in each piece i try to improve. This here is my final piece and my first "composition", where i tried to maintain the same kind of detail level than Miura.

Please rate my art, feel free to see my deviantArt to browse my full art story:

Thanks

Grass doesn't look like that, hair doesn't look like that, and there's no texture on the wall in the distance.

this is a mix between chris chan and tom preston tier. do you honestly think this looks good? do you not the large wonky lines? this would only be forgiveable it it was a flash cartoon.

I started writing some advice, but basically, you could improve a lot in everything (ex: form, gesture, value). go to the beginner thread if you want advice.

Always do. Could you talk a little bit about what is value in this context?

Complex vs simple as a compositional element and implied textures are a thing, anon. If anything I would say OP has too much unnecessary detail.

>>3237585
He's just spitting memes. Your picture has a decent value range, it's just neither used to describe form, nor for compositional purposes

Jus bab grif, i said its fanart

>>3238151
Yeah, looking at the thumbnail i see i overdid a bit... but how exactly could i improve the use of value to describe form, in the OP picture for example?

are you retarded? He overloaded the wall with way too much texture you meme spewing fuck.

It’s good keep drawing.

If you like fan artist but want to improve Maybe fan art some fine artists styles. I like Van Gogh and cezanne, by the looks of it you’d probably appreciate Escher.

or buy a detailed figure of your game characters or whatever and draw the toy ‘from life’

By reading the sticky and learn how to draw.

That one is supposed to be like that, if I recall correctly from the manga. It's like glowy magical or some shit.

I don't know, I stopped reading there because shit got too over the top for me. How it's the manga going?

>>3239448
It's just that, either here or in the FAQs, when i see "form, gesture, texture" I'm like
>Ok, i can see what this is
But then comes value, and maybe this is a language barrier, but I don't know what the fuck you mean by value in drawing

>>3239583
When I said materials in the other post, i meant like, i linked my whole deviantArt page looking for some feedback

Stop putting so much weight on your pencil, what are you, a punch-drunk MMA tard ?
If you need darker values, either learn hatching/crosshatching (Miura does that, right ? just copy details of his shit) or use greasier pencils.
Try to keep your lines thinner, everything looks like play doh. The size of the line is used to signify things like distance or thickness, don't make everything look the same.
Like look at your sweet, soft clouds shaped by just the light, being delimited by the crust of a quiche, wtf.
It is hard tho to figure what to do for everything and keep it consistent, but that's just figuring out style. Again, copy the stuff, just don't do it mindlessly.
Honestly, good stubbornness, choices of values are good, as others pointed out.
Pro-tip : learn about the guys who inspired whoever is inspiring you, read/listen to interviews, watch better people than you draw. Don't listen to people on moldavian socket weaving forums, find good people, who draw well, irl.

just saw your deviantart.
stop tracing, you're just blinding yourself from how shitty you are at drawing characters
and stop filling the dark like you're using ink. You're not. You're using pencils. Learn how professionals use pencils, and choose what suits you. Never take inspiration from other amateurs drawings, there's plenty amazing pros from all times, all places better than them.

No, but name dropping them in a side note at a total beginner without any context is naive at best, and means you're not even sure what you're even talking about at worst

>>3240441
Value refers to the range from lightest to darkest. A value of 0 would be white and 100 would be black.

Hue is the shift in color. Saturation describes the intensity of the color.

When people here say 'value' they usually mean you should practice to apply light in greyscale drawings.
