Why do I even draw.
I got much better over the past few years, but I'm having progressively less and less fun. Does this ever change? I thought that my goal is to be as good as InCase, but what if one day I wake up being that good but still feel like shit? Is this what life is all about?

Newcomer to drawing overall. Started 3 days ago infact. Forgive my camera but somehow, dirt has gotten on the lens. Inside the phone shell, through the tight plastic cover I bought for each side and the leather phone case. The hair on the bottom right side bothers me the most, as well as the eyelashes and mouth. I figure I did alright with the colour scheme at the very least. But it was a fun challenge. Especially for someone who can't draw faces let alone bodies worth a nickel for the moment.

Printing paper is good enough unless you want to keep every single practice piece you do. Get yourself a HB & 2B pencil, a sharpener and kneaded eraser and go from there.

>> No.3227188

>>3227177
I'll see if the neighbouring town has this stuff. All these various pencils astound me because I was used to there just being.. simple pencils. Never really figured there were variations which look almost identical. But thanks, anon. I'll take any advice I can get.

>> No.3227202

>>3227188
Generally HB stands for hard black, The numbers indicate how soft the lead is, giving you a darker black. The higher you go, you may need a stanley knife as the lead gets softer, the twisting motion of a regular sharpener tends to break the lead.

Use the HB to put down your construction lines, use the kneaded eraser by patting it down and 'lifting' the lead off the paper and occassionally, moulding it into a point to reach corners, then the 2B on top for your final lines.

It is all simple pencils and HB and 2B are the most commonly found ones.

Higher grade paper as you would find in sketchbooks is useful once you get confident enough to start using inks and other mediums.

You will slowly accumulate all the materials you need in time, no need to go for everything or the expensive stuff at first.

>> No.3227428

If it doesn't strain your budget there is no reason not to. Especially if there is a sale going on. Just don't concentrate too much on making 'good' pieces on it which alot of people learning to draw do when they first purchase a tablet.

But if you really need to know if you 'earned' a tablet, I do suggest setting up a goal. Put a small amount of change for every sheet you fill or for every hour you spend drawing until you earned enough.
