Because when focusing on fundamentals people tend to forget the main goal of what they're drawing, and that's appeal.
It doesn't matter how technically correct you are if it looks like shit.
Plus focusing on shitty memes like loomis will cause you to suck for life.
Its far better to just apply fundamentals to things you enjoy, such as anime, while also slowly adding in other elements like perspective and structure.
Notice how some of the best artists in this board are in the alt art thread.

Not sure what the connection there is. Anime makes use of all the same fundamentals and most decent anime artists are actually better at them than the delusional /ic/ realism dunning krugers who can't construct an appealing face without misaligned facial features if their life depended on it.
