They have a flat rate shipping of 2000 yen for every order, if you have multiple books you're interested in that makes your order much cheaper (books are heavy as shit), most orders are shipped via DHL. I ordered the two main Chinese books that were made by the Russian Academy/Repin for their Chinese students which are intended to be copied and studied from.

I've got vol. 2. There were some decent sketches in there but I was a little disappointed with the amount of pages. He kinda artificially padded the page count by making one full page only line work and then making the next full page the same drawing only with color.

I guess everyone has their opinions on it, personally for me I viewed it as take what you like and discard the rest like the photo ref stuff. I believe he was wording it wrong maybe and was trying to express the notion, like many other artist and illustrators have, not to rely heavy on reference. It is also about "alla prima " painting, which does take place in that moment of time, where one can enjoy the art of painting from what you see in front of you more then what you see in a photo. At least that's how i inferred it, in any case, I guess I'll put it this way, that book open my eyes more ways than one than any of the painting courses I took on the side at Pratt Institute.....truly art school had a 20% benefit for me, most 15 % was non art related. I mostly learned form tutorials and books, blogs, certain professors and peers, but for the most part painting and understanding color and value all came together along with everything else I learned, when i had finally read that book. Maybe you're just more seasoned than I am and knew stuff before you needed to read it.

If all you want is a peek at a few pages, his original books are in public domain (but written in french), I suppose that "female morphology" is the translation of his "Morphologie, la femme" but I don't know how modernized is the english translation.
