thanks man

might sound kind of rude but consider returning/selling it and buying a drawing tablet?

Can also vouch for Clip Studio

You can now scale the UI in Photoshop, somewhere under properties I recall

I find the SP4 shit for drawing but fine for painting. I often begin my work with a pencil sketch on paper, then bring it into Clip and paint over it.
There's a new Surface Pen that supposedly has a lighter activation force, and a SP4 compatible Wacom Bamboo pen that is lighter still. This would address my main complaint about using this for art, although I have mostly adapted to the original SP4 pen

is is good for anything? I'd hate to resell it since it was a gift. but it seems like an awful lot of money spent on it, just to be garbage at drawing/video editing/game/ virtually anything i'd want to use it for.

Leonardo.

Only fucking thing that works well, but it's not going to be your 'everything'. You can get like 80% of the way there though.

Does it have at least 8GB of RAM?
If not, sell it, since your photoshop is going to lag like hell when you start adding layers.

Otherwise try setting your pen setting to (2) on the surface pen sensitivity slider. I find that helps a lot with how it feels. And try using an oval brush for sketching, I find that helps a lot too. You also want to draw fast instead of doing slow strokes.

But yeah if you really just want to have a portable sketching tool sell it and get an ipad Pro instead.

Pixel art studio from the windows store is good for making pixel art and pixel animations

I have the surface pro i5 with 8g of ram. Since i bought the wacom pen for it i've been using it for all of my work. Photoshop runs fine with it. if you're painting over 5000 pixel it can get slow if you have to many layers...but other then that it works fine.

I did tweak the power settings to get the most power...it drains the battery fast but when plugged in it's not lagging anymore.

I use an SP4 4GB. Photoshop will probably lag, but Clip Studio Runs perfectly fine.

In the future you might want to buy the updated pen. When Microsoft gets off their ass and delivers the Firmware update, the new pen will have tilt support.

Also using SP4 4gb + SP5 pen, it's okay for drawing desu. But then again I also have CIntiq 27qhd so.. I mainly use it for sketching and shitposting at work during breaks

also Clip Studio paint works well, I personally use Sketchbook for business and Photoshop with 200 scaling

Do you notice a major difference between SP4 and SP5 pen? I read that without the hardware change in SP5 you won't get the most out of the SP5 pen when paired with SP4

Godno it was horrible. Tried and tried and ran into constant crashing even when I did get it working, when a file got corrupted I switched to Clip studio and never looked back.
