How do you motivate yourself knowing that there are younger more talented people already further along working harder than you right now?

I keep telling myself age doesn't matter and neuroplasticity is a meme, but it's undeniable at this point that younger people have a huge advantage.

By thinking that I'm younger than all the people thinking the same thing, being anxious about me being better than them. And that even some of those who are younger than me and better than me will be thinking about the people who are younger than them and better than them. No matter what category of life you pick there will always be better and worse people, do your own race and don't give a shit about that ultimate efficiency comparison between every person you come across and you

The only advantage is that those people are going to git gud sooner, after a certain point your gains have a diminishing return.

Look at any good artist's early work and compare it to their later work, you'll barely notice any difference. If they're good that is.

The younger they are, the more free time. It's a milage game.

But it's always better to be the tortoise instead of the hare.

It's not your age that is the problem, it's you who is the problem. If those younger, hard working, more talented people had started 10 years after you did, they would still have surpassed you easily.

basically talent is real, if you're too old you're fighting against the currents, that's just reality.

>> No.3175768

you treat art like a dickwaving competition where your mastery you achieved at age 52 is useless because some other guy achieved it at age 24, but that's a very dull mindset

if you can't fall in love with drawing for the pure act of drawing, just draw so you can eventually draw the stuff you want to draw that is unique to you

but if you don't really like the act of drawing and you only want to draw anime girls and space marines maybe drawing isn't for you
