Thank god,

Ok my solution for mobile pics is that you should open up the pic you want first. Rotate it any other way, save it. Then back to upright position, then save it. Thought it wouldnt do it but I now I found a quick fix to accidental rotations.

Absolutely. I decided I was going to use Inktober to fix this issue, though. Sure, I'm tired after I get home from work, but if I can spend five hours playing videogames, why can't I spent 30 minutes drawing?

Two things I'm noticing:

1) I'm using Deleter #4 ink and while it's said to be Copic-proof, it takes a very long time before heavier lines are dry enough to go over without smearing. Yesterday I did a (non-Inktober) piece with the ink and almost 24 hours later the Copic chisel nib will smear the heaviest lines. Patience is a must.

2) Either my scanner sucks or I don't know how to adjust properly or the colors are outside my monitor's gamut, because blends that are smooth on paper are hard in the scan and several colors are drastically altered. On this piece I used V20 and R20 over E000 and E00 to create shadows and blush, and on the board they're very smooth and subtle but the scan has blown them out quite a bit.

So far I've had better luck scanning my inks and printing them to color over. When I print in greyscale at Normal quality (not Fast or High) the ink doesn't smear if it's given a short time to dry. But there are some colors I just can't figure out how to make look right.

/beg/ here, I hate ink and I hate you guys.

I was wondering if you guys had any tips for hatching high key values in an attractive way. Any artists I might want to check out?

Be precise and make sure all lines in one field/plane are parallel to each other.

>> No.3170200

>>3170194
Would suggest less actual "cross" hatching, experiment more with the direction of the lines in a way that implies or compliments angles/texture. Size of line, length, varying directions without overlap can make a huge difference instead of focusing on covering area flatly with literal hatch work. Hatching pattern can certainly be useful though but try to detach from that being "the point", if that helps. I don't know of any artists to show this off though, sorry

Thanks. I've always liked the flat look crosshatching in only one direction gives; I think if done well, it can give us an interesting clash between form and shape, but I definitely have felt like it works much better with simpler tonal drawings and not with something with a lot of soft transitions like pic related and the one I posted before.

I'm going to try this out, definitely.

It's funny, I was gonna post this minutes earlier but it hit me so late that the killer also had to have its own shadow aiming down if the victim's shadow was also aiming down and I had to just thINK fast.

Anyway, I enjoyed whipping the pen so much, I even did the date and numbering with the same method of shadowing.

Anyway, I guess this can be prompt-related- it's teeming with darkness mostly.

I'm also glad that I am STILL in the game. Have not posted an entry past or even on 12AM CST so far and I plan to keep it that way. But this was the closest though- no bad luck today.

A grey set is the best to begin with.

For starters you could get the "Sketching Greys" set, which comes with five markers (N0, N2, N4, N6 and N8) plus a Copic Multiliner SP. Then you can just fill in the missing tones. Or if you want to go all in you could buy a 12-marker set, either Cool Grey or Warm Grey (Cool Grey is most popular), which gives you the full range of values from 00 to 10.

With a small set of greys you can get to work right away with a small investment. I started with five greys (N1, N3, N5, N7. N9) and used them exclusively for a few years.

Getting a working stock of color markers is more expensive and takes more figuring, as a lot of colors are similar to each other and what colors you need depends upon what you're using them for. One tip I can give you is don't just go for the brightest colors you can get. When you're starting out you'll be relying on a small pool of colors and if they're all super bold they'll clash horribly. Go for slightly muted colors, which usually (but not always) means colors in the 10s, 20s and 30s rather than the 0s.

not him but wtf do I go with
never touched markers in my life bc i thought they were so ugly and resorted to just using extra fine point pens and crosshatched or whatever to fill in the void

I'm behind, but playing some catchup.

Day 11 Inktober. I am aware of the streaking, its fine. I was doing it for the T-Rex more as a definition of the form. Yes it is in reference to a Frazetta piece.

Ok i know this is probably one of the shittiest and rushed pieces Ive made here but i made a promise to my niece and nephews that id host a spooky night (scary movies and games theyve never seen, and treats) for them and I went out of my way to cancel my initial drawing to buy sketching grey copic markers 60% off at michaels on a really stormy night here before it closed and this is my first time delving into markers.

Oh god i need help with marker usage
