tl;dr

1. Don't worry about being good.
2. Don't draw a lot
3. Make excuses not to draw
4. If you don't feel like drawing, don't.
5. If you're struggling with a medium, give up and try something else.
6. Don't put effort into your art.
7. Flipping your canvas is a crutch, don't do it.
8. JUST DRAW
9. THEN DRAW IT AGAIN
10. Remember it's just your style :^)

>>3167296
Nope.
People need to stop living in a wishy-washy fantasy where they can do whatever they want. I'm no authority on ultimate art advice, but here's my two cents:

1. Push yourself to draw something everyday. There are plenty of more passionate artists for clients to pick from if you aren't constantly improving and drawing.
2. Acknowledge that there are people better than you, right now and when you go pro.
3. Know that there's a very low chance for your art to "change the way the world thinks."
4. Do not put your artwork on a pedestal.
5. Be in love with the process of making art.
6. No one wants to hire someone that can't draw today because they're "not feeling it."
7. Ask other people you know will give you good feedback. Flipping the canvas is good for a quick self-crit, and is fundamentally better than not flipping at all.
8. Constantly picture in your brain the bigger picture, then worry about the smaller steps to get there.
9. Don't lie to yourself. Don't force something that isn't there. You might get a hernia.
10. Don't look for validation from social media. Look at social media as a platform to present work and build your community/audience.

Some of it, especially 1, but the advice on motivation are only valid for people spending 8 - 12 hours a day on their art, so obviously if you give it to some faggot drawing every other day (majority of people), you're fucking them over.

>> No.3167456

Thats not elite advice. Sell your soul to it and draw 12 hours per day. You will notice that everything sorts itself out and you start to love the process no matter how "unstable" your brain is. Also imagine how many people you surpass in skill for everyday you do that. Sometimes i skip sleep and do 30 hours or until i pass the fuck out next to my cat.

1. Nobody says “don’t try to do good” when learning anything else, but because it’s art, people are conditioned to give it a pass. Doing it good means communicating specifics. Skills allow you to be more specific.

2. Learn to think before you draw. Not every drawing should be done to impress a hypothetical ic lurker, but thoughtlessly jumping into anything is a road to turd polishing.

3. Physical strain is bad.

4. Sort yourself out. Getting good at drawing doesn’t clean your room.

5. Use the right medium.

6. Make details describe form or don’t bother.

7. Find out if your image is being understood, and if not, fix it by any means necessary.

8. Distinguish between studies, notes, sketches, reference, etc.

9. Finish things.

10. You will never be satisfied with your skills, style, or voice until you communicate something clearly. Once you accept being misunderstood, you’ve lost.

1. Don't wait for the 'perfect' idea before you start drawing, and don't abandon decent ideas just because they're not perfect- you'll never feel like you have good ideas if you do this

2. Be motivated, but don't beat yourself up for taking breaks when you need them. Drawing for 16 hours a day is a meme

3. Trying to work through the pain is a fantastic way to end up with some kind of permanent hand/wrist/spine injury. Either fix what's ailing you or take a break

4. If you want to draw but can't, you're probably guilty of point 1. Be more open to new ideas and just draw whatever, it'll be better than sitting around

5. Different mediums have different things to offer, and trying something new can often hold solutions to your problems

6. Not everyone enjoys spending 50 hours on a single uber-detailed piece, don't feel obligated to work that way

7. Learning to notice mistakes in your work is the only way to improve, so don't be afraid to pick your work apart. You should totally flip your canvas a lot though

8. If you feel stuck on a particular idea, just draw through it. It might not turn out great but it'll help you more than letting it ferment in your brain

9. don't be afraid to throw shit out and start over, sometimes it's for the best

10. learn to appreciate yourself, even if you're not that great. You can strive to improve your work without hating it

>1. Don't wait for the 'perfect' idea before you start drawing, and don't abandon decent ideas just because they're not perfect

This is true, but here’s a corollary: don’t treat any idea as being SO perfect that you would sully it by trying to draw it. Go ahead and draw your ideas now, don’t wait until you’re “good enough”.

That doesn't mean anything. The industry has been there for hundred years and it's not changing rapidly. You can take all the years you need "to catch up" to it.
