okay. but i see some gorgeous details on the trees and leaves but than only some parts of the images have these details and it makes me think its unfinnished. The second one is espeacially top heavy with grass having much less effort compared to the tree. I understand that its time consuming but its a real shame that everything doesnt have the same level of detail. There is the critism that I have for you, the drawings are not complete.

I should say Dutch, that wild line only really appears among them. The Italian painters, even the Venetians, used a clear outline as part of the Baroque style.

Contrast is not insignificant, and the difference between full black and something closer to a mid tone isn't being slightly off. That's like saying a straight line and an 80% straight line is an insignificant difference, the difference between the two is immediately apparent and noticeable.

The quotation there is from Murray's Dictionary of Art and Artists, which has a great selection of very concise and lively biographies. I own Durer's Painters Manual, and Parramon's book The Art of Painting, Powell's Colour Guides. Durer is somewhat esoteric but I would recommend the colour guides if you mix your own paints. I also have some books on intuition and ESP from a spiritual perspective.

Did you wing your vanishing points or do them manually?
Also, you have nice skills with the line, with line weight and confidence, but your coloring skills are a little... basic? Your coloring is neat, i can say that, though you should probably get a color theory book.
Besides, your type of coloring kinda slightly flattens your forms. Not that this is bad, it's an okay aesthetic. Your plant drawing, colored, looks like it would be the end result of a neat person coloring an masterful illustration from a coloring book. But I feel like with you studying forms and stuff, you do want to add more three dimensionality, yes? Probably with some color gradation or something.

With those I just slapped on random vp`s on the paper, so I did not find the SP or place vp`s correctly in the 90 degrees in total or anything.

Yeah, I kind just slap colors in with markers and sometimes with color pencils. You are right, I'm not trying to make it look flat, it's just my lack of skill. I am planning on studying colors after values, I heard that good coloring is mostly being good with values.

Its much harder to do figure studies without using a real life reference and an instructor.

For instance you learning with a live model and most importantly a sighting stick would help alot with training your eye to recognize body proportions.

just drawing lines to make things a bit darker, isn't serving your drawing
you can feel that the lines are quick, unmotivated and have nothing to do with any texture, body or light situation.

also tracing the same line again exactly how it was, doesn't make up for mistakes. instead, you'd want to draw a bit off, in a way that feels better to you (e.g. arm is too thick, so you draw a line more inside of the arm, instead of tracing the existing line as it is)

>> No.3213719

>>3211258

all of those seem very cold and technical. i'm a critic of those strict anatomical schematics. you get exactly what shows in your sketches: rather cold studies.
what you really need to practice more is getting some passion in there, some inspiration. your lines are just what they are, lines. i'm just not getting into it, from what i see.

no shit, i can tell by how far the deltoid is, the deltoid should be close to the armpit but you have the breast muscles there instead, they don go up that far. the breast muscles attach to only a small fraction of the clavicle, the deltoid takes up most of it. you have the entire breast connecting to the clavicle. belly button is too high, it should be leveled with the pelvis. the leg muscles are going way too low, gives it the impression that this guy has a low hanging loose ass., youre missing bones on the pelvis. arms are too short and broken. youre bending the the torso in the wrong area.

>When an Eskimo has a complaint to make against another he challenges him to a drumming-contest (Danish: Trommesang). The clan or tribe thereupon gathers at a festal meeting, all in their finest attire and injoyful mood. The two contestants then attack one another in turn with opprobious songs to the accompaniment of a drum, each reproaching the other with his misdemeanours. No distinction is made between well-founded accusations, satirical remarks calculated to tickle the audience, and pure slander. For instance one singer enumerated all the people who had been eaten by his opponent's wife and mother-in-law during a famine, which caused the assembled company to burst into tears. This offensive chanting is accompanied throughout by all kinds of physical indignities directed against your opponent, such as breathing and snorting into his face, bumping him with your forehead, prizing his jaws open, tying him to a tent-pole-all of which the "accused" has to bear with equanimity and a mocking laugh. Most of the spectators join in the refrains of the song, applaudingandeggingthepartieson. Othersjustsitthereandgo to sleep. During the pauses the contestants converse in friendly terms. The sessions of such a contest may extend over a period of years, during which the parties think up new songs and new misdeeds to denounce. Finally the spectators decide who the winner is. In most cases friendship is immediately re-established, but it sometimes happens that a family emigrates from shame at having been defeated. A person may have several drumming matches running at the same time. Women too can take part.
