I've wasted way too much fucking time on this board browsing for something. Anything. Partially meaningful discourse happens every so often but it comes rare an few.

This one hit the last straw:

>>3151525

For a while now I've been checking /ic/ a lot, but I couldn't find out why. Now I do. I've been looking for more people that think the way I do.

I've searched on the internet far and wide finding some cracks here and there but nothing much, and definetely not by someone who is serious. I've searched up "why fundamentals" and I've found no discussion related to it. It seems as though artists are intellectually inferior on some level to people that are interested in fitness. The amount of people that question the fundamentals they practice is abysmal.

No one makes any serious research into biology. People look at biased samples of professionals and deny that talent exists.

Very little ask, "If it is all about hard work and simply the fundamentals, how come Gi is a fraction of Vilppu's age and is miles ahead of him in terms of visual imagery"

Even little observe whether he is really visualizing things in his head, or if the process in itself is even efficient.

Overall it boils down to the "just draw" retort over and over when it obviously isn't solely that. Why are people so unable to doubt people that lived centuries? Why is this so taboo?

And then I hit me. I've been browsing the web lately, aimlessly for answers. My issue is that I already have a lot of them.

If you want to discuss my axioms and be really critical of illustration as a medium you can join my discord. I only care about talking about people that genuinely want to understand Gi's skills and get to his level.

Might make a blog one day or something. Idk. Wake me up when more artists make art like yev. He is one of the few artists that seem to still post that I actually like his style.

Holy shit, this post is too long that its cringy.

But discord is a timesink shit waste of time. I think I spent a great deal of 4 hours a day on it everyday last year. Now I just use it to look at loli photos. Fuck that shit.

If you spent more time drawing instead of making a copy pasta you'd be one step closer to Gi instead of just talking about it.

Draw more is the go-to retort for a reason: it's the only way you'll improve.

It's the same guy, or 2 to 5 people that answer any and every anatomy sketches on here as "stiff". they have absolutely no talent, even less to redline or back up what they say, so it's just another buzzword and probably the only one they can utter.

I've learned it a long time ago. don't listen to crits from /ic/ unless the crit is extensive and applicable, or if the redline they do is actually correct. filter the garbage, and ignore it.

I'm ready to bet my hands on the fact that the poster can't draw a single figure in proportion or even something that gets close to a human, they're always the ones that think their knowledge is more important than the application because they can't draw, and decide to "use" as much of the little and only thing they have, by giving "critiques".

just another day on /ic/

I am not trying to seem smart. You are actually just retarded. Axiom is 2-3 syllables - not even a big word. Not trying to sound smart either - I am just ranting.

>a statement or proposition that is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true.

If you have a better word be my guess. I've had too little sleep to care. At the same time though, you are just proving my point. You are trying too hard to find a black/white idea that I do not believe. I do not thing fundamentals are a meme - I am just disgusted that no one questions them or even tries to understand them.

Thank you for understanding. I feel a bit better now.

I think I get where you're coming from and I feel like I'm slowly getting slower to an answer myself. I'm not saying "the" answer as I think it's subjective to one to another. I've also browsed /ic/ quite a bit awaiting for an answer or post that sparks with me but haven't really found anything like this yet.

I think you're the one who has to find your answer, you can't rely on others for that here. At least that's what I'd like to think and this is what I may settle on.

You know I completely agree with you. I've always questioned fundamentals especially when it comes to the english language. Do you really need to know the alphabet to communicate or practice your grammar? Is it really necessary to understand the punctuation? I've seen young speakers who can communicate far better than old ones so it really makes me question whether these fundamentals of english language are worth learning.

And? Why does it matter you fucking double nigger?

Fortune Cookie Says: Be the Best you can be, but the best you can be is probably average, make peace with that.

There is no evidence that anything you do can make you as good as Gi or even Villpu for that matter, however it is undeniable that iteration is the key to improvement in whatever you do so long as with each iteration make an attempt to discard what fails and keep what works. This isn't a difficult concept to grasp.

Thus, it stand's to reason that if you draw, and continue to iterate on your drawings with the process of removing what doesn't 'work', either by critique or personal preference, you will invariably become a "better" artist, whatever your criteria for that is.

Ah yes, the elaborate long winded post that subtly injects a blog by directing the attention to another subject of discussion to distract the reader from the obvious and blatant shameless shilling.

Next time just post in the cancerous blog thread so we could hide it, thank you.

Well if you don't learn fundamentals you're just making it harder on yourself. Then again if you hate drawing so much why are you even wasting you time. That's like trying to read a book on coding when you fucking hate computers to begin with. Life is too short to do that to yourself.

Of course it has a genetic component. The spatial/abstract reasoning for art is a specific part of the brain that isn't highly developed in most people, let alone the motor control.

It's something you can learn, like any skill, but your brains innate capability and plasticity are a hard limiting factor. Being truly creative AND skilled is such a rare thing, where biology meets interest and will.

Geniuses of all types are born, not made. You have to have it there to begin with....or have something happen that significantly alters your neural wiring.
