1. get a loomis book (or any book thats not too advanced at first, like bridgman books)
2. draw EVERY SINGLE PICTURE/DIAGRAM/etc. in the book at least once
3. come back later on and post/analyze results

>> No.3150738

the only bigger waste of time than that is to put off starting drawing because it's intimidating

how is it a waste of time?

Not him but you mostly want to learn the basics of head construction from him. Once it gets to different facial structures it's just him studying proportions.

learning some sentences of a foreign language without knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.

the moment you have to form your own sentence within a true context you are lost.

this is the reason why some people steal fragments of artwork. once they need to truly create they are lost.

yes but just grinding all of this shit could help develop muscle memory/intuitive understanding of how to just draw people

then you can stylize to whatever you want later on, because you have a base to stylize from

its about smart grinding. not simply grinding. i was like you and regret all the motivation i wasted by using it for blind grinding like doing diagram copy.

yes of course... analyze what youre doing, dont just copy. copy, analyze, reflect, break, think about it

Should we start a book club thread? We'll give daily, or weekly, reading assignments. Something like read 10 pages and do exercises. Maybe spend a month or 2 on a single book

guess i meant to say not too detailed

like starting off by doing this with the diagrams from Artistic Anatomy... could take you longer

doing it with loomis could be better at first, cause he has a lot of less detailed diagrams

they had some study thread general which was kinda the same thing and that dissipated after a while.
